I went to see the Raggae band Gondwana at Upstairs Cabaret with my partner last night. The band was great but the music, in particular the base, was so loud that we had to enjoy it from the outside entrance of the club. The entry door glass was vibrating intensely from the loud base and so was my heart, which was very unpleasant. The noise inside was nothing short of ear-splitting. A Concord taking off would pale against it. After standing on the other side of the door for some time we were told by security that we could not be there as this was an exit. There was lots of room and only the two of us were standing outside. We ended up leaving as there was no way we could enjoy the experience. It's a shame it was so loud as the band really was good. I don't know if it's always that loud there but the attendants last night definitely risked hearing damage and worse. Disappointing experience.

Have spent the equivalent of a rich kids college fund here and have been welcomed by awful horrible staff and wouldn't recommend this hole in the wall to my worst enemy. Lots of underage girls, good if your into that type of thing. Word to lil Debi, only good night I had. Peace out. Wonton.

Terrible club, bad securitythey do not ID people I've had to pick up my 17 year old sister here several times because it's so easy to get in, all they do is smudge ink on their arm and security let's them right in, not impressed and should really report the place.

Probably one of the most fun clubs by the bar area in Victoria. A natural place to slide to after beers at the Irish Times or the many water holes on the main Street. Going until 2 or 3 am most nights

First of all, just here to boost the rating a bit.
The club is actually quite decent. It is indeed a lot smaller than Distrikt and Sugar, but bartenders are relatively nice, and musics are competently produced and mashed together for a night's service. But you have to be super patient sometimes because it can be super busy. Have a nice day.

THE BOUNCERS ARE RACIST.

I can't even begin to describe how horrible my experience was last night. We got there with my friends at 11.30pm and waited till 1am to get in and we still didn't. Meanwhile the bouncers were letting in people from the back of the line for a fee of 20 dollars per person which was going into their pockets. When I asked one of them how much longer it was going to be he said that there were too many people in the club only for his mate to let more people in infront of our eyes after they paid him. I told him it wasn't fair to us because we had been waiting for hours and that its not right to take bribes from people who are at the back of the line and he said to me " you can give me all the money in the world and I still won't let you in". That's when my friends and I knew it was time to call it a night. It was the worst experience of my life especially because my friends and I drove all the way from Qualicum beach to have a good time in Victoria. Please guys if your black think twice before you attempt to enter this club. WORST NIGHT EVER!!!!

After waiting in guest list line for over 1 hour from 10:30-11:40 the girl at the entrance gave horrible customer service, couldn't move the line and refused to let any of us in without paying a ridiculous fee even tho I had guest list and am a student. She proceeded to tell me "honey you don't have to go here" talking to me like I was a child. Then telling me I had an attitude when I explained how long we have been waiting in the line. Will never come back to this place and deter others I know from going here.
