I love being here at Shady Shores. It's a perfect little getaway for me, anytime I need to come connect to the ocean this is where I come. With Wildlife right outside my door, a hot tub with an incredible View, an amazing host and great accommodations, I'm a repeat customer :-)

I've been coming here for years! If you're looking for an Island Getaway right on the ocean, make sure you spend some time here at Shady Shores, it's an unforgettable experience

Lovely little resort. We stayed in a two bedroom with pull out couch. There was a hot tub, kayak rental, and a beautiful view of the ocean. The suites were very clean and modern. Was great for a nice little getaway!

I would say the the owner was the biggest treat! She was so funny to chat with and it really made the experience there. The rooms are cute and cozy and it really is just right on the beach. In my opinion the view is a dream to wake up to. This is a must See!

My family and I stayed in this place for a few days 2 years ago The reason I booked this place is because it is ocean front, has kitchens in there and is good for family vacations.

However, when I arrived at the counter. The owner told me to not cook any sea food inside the house, so there will be no sea food smell inside the unit. (The reason I booked this place is because they have a kitchen, and when I called to book the unit, she never mentioned the restrictions). She asked me to use the outside BBQ stove to cook any sea food.

Also, when I went to the shore to pick some oysters. She came to me and ask to see my fishing licence (which I have and showed to her), and then she counted the oysters one by one to make sure they are within the limit (which they are). Then she told me don't pick too much oysters (everything I did is within the legal limit), etc. At that time, I am so pissed off, so I told here I am here to enjoy my vacation, not to listen someone to check my fishing licence and treat me like a criminal. So either she shut up or I leave. After this, she's acting better.

So in my opinion, if you want some place to stay without cooking, then it is all good. But if you went to a fishing trip, caught some fish and want to cook it, then there is a problem. Also if you want to pick a few oysters in the shore, there is also problems.

If you want to be away from the hub this is the place. Close enough to amenities but far enough to encourage you to stay put, enjoy the view and relax.
Owner is very bubbly and knowledgeable. As we were here to explore and hike it was a great location.
Rented one of the beach cottages. Yes tiny but the view and being directly on the water was well worth it. Be sure to bring your camera and binoculars b/c the wildlife will keep you busy.

Stayed here after backpacking in Strathcona Park. We rented one of the beach side 1 room cottagesfantastic place to relax and recover! Yeah, the cottage is tiny and cramped, but it is adequate for 1-2 people who don't need tons of space. Besides, you just sleep and use the washroom anyway! If you need more room there's two room places, but not right on the beach.
When it rained, we lay in bed and watched the seabirds, seals and sea lions or sat in the covered hot tub. When it didn't rain we sat on the deck or walked along the shore, or sat in the hot tub
There's tons to do nearby or just do nothing! Horn Lake Caves are just 30 minutes away.
The Crown and Anchor down the road is the place to go for food and drink. There's a liquor store and grocery store just 3 minutes away. There's also an independent pizza maker who will deliver, but we didn't try that this time.
The resort has it's own oyster/clam bed, so get a permit or buy fish at Deep Bay and have a seafood bbq!
Decent value (comparatively. room tax is added and watch the seasonality of pricing), excellent location, great welcoming feel.

There my experince there was wonderfull, I just thought I would say I miss the veiw and the tanning, I like too do it again.
