Don`t recommend this place for dinner. Our server, Chris, made us to feel like we are in their way. He was rude, arrogant and pushy. He had swing by every few minutes and took away something from the table. They served a glass for the beer, but took it away while it was still empty and my guest had to drink the beer from the bottle. They wanted to take away the half empty glass from my sons apple juice. We were still eating desserts when Chris dropped off the bill. Then another waitress came for the payment while I was not even asking the bill yet The food below average, the salmon was dry, the ribs are tough. Most of the food just simply under the range. They look nice on a photo, but tasting terrible. I would avoid this place.

Went yesterday for my friends birthday dinner and we are dissappointed of food, they don’t have much selection of food for the amount they charge per person. Unlike before that food was good and it was worth the price.

Everyone that works at this location is amazing! I ordered takeout for a seniors group and I had the best customer service! Can't thank the guelph manager and staff enough! So kind!

Been to this restaurant in Guelph 3 times and always enjoyed it! We found the service excellent and the food delicious and topped up often.

I went yesterday with my mom and niece. The food was good but could have been warmer. Also the selection could have been larger but service was GREAT!

Was very busy for Chinese New Year. No crab and many food items could have been warmer. However I was with great company and I left full. Table service is excellent

Horrible service. My Wife and I went in for lunch and it was steady and by no means busy but they just kept taking people past us. We waited over 20 min not to get a seat and went across the parking lot to Turtle Jacks where they took very good care of us and the food was awesome.

Honestly I always enjoyed this location very much. The servers are soft spoken and on point. Always smiles and welcoming. They make celebrating at this location enjoyable. Cody and the new manager Tony are both very Thoughtful and understanding in customer relationship. Many thanks! The food selection was fresh and I loved my old time favourite hot and sour soup!❤️

I've been here a few times for the buffet and loved it. Today was the first time getting take away. Not disappointed. It's absolutely delicious, as always :)

Most of my experiences are in Chinese buffets in the United States. That said, those buffets get almost everything right, but there is a "butter tolerance" one must meet to accept most of what they provide.
Mandarin, up here in Guelph, knocks them all out of the park. They have some delicious sashimi at their buffet, though you have to keep your eyes open for it. I look forward to returning, and I hope our table is tended by Yube; good-natured people are always welcome at dinner.response / report this review -

Love to have lunch at The Mandarin. Attentive waiters but maybe a little too over zealous to take your plate away while you're not finished. They should also be aware not to disrupt any ongoing conversations and the way they serve- never reach over a guest as that is considered rude.

I think we all have had our share of bad experiences, but this one had my boyfriend and I laughing in disbelief.
I convinced him to try Mandarin after my fantastic experiences at home (Ottawa).
The evening started off fantastically, and we both gathered our plates and tucked in.
On round 2, the manager Lisa came and introduced herself. Shortly after, my boyfriend found a bee (yes, a BEE) in his Shanghai noodles.
I picked up his plate and handed it to Lisa, trying to be discreet, but still letting her know of my displeasure.
Her compensation was to offer us free drinks.
Neither of us were drinking that night, so this was useless to us.
We politely declined, and continued on.
The waitress also offered us free drinks, which we again declined.
When the bill came, they were still wanted us to pay full price.
When I asked about at least a reduction, the waitress went and got the manager, who handed us a $2 stuffed panda.
A stuffed Panda, and no indication that the food had been disposed of, only that the had "closed the kitchen door".
We paid, full price (with a tip for the poor waitress because none of this was her fault), and as my boyfriend was taking his card back, another waitress spilled his full glass of water on him.
We got up and left, laughing, because there's something so absurd about being given a stuffed Panda as compensation for finding an INSECT IN YOUR FOOD, and having someone dump water on you as a goodbye.
Moral of the story:
Mandarin Guelph serves Shanghai fried bees, and will make you wet your pants. And that will be the most sanitary part of your meal.

This is my favourite restaurant. I don't get to go out much, but when I do, I go to the Mandarin. I went there New Year's Eve with my boyfriend. We had a great time and the food was awesome. As usual, my eyes were bigger than my stomach. I'll be back to redeem myself and eat at least 3 entrees.

We booked a large party well in advance (in person so we know we were the first in the reservations book) for the Mothers Day Brunch. When we arrived they seated us a two tables across from each other and told us they were too busy - they couldn't accommodate us all at the same table. Ummmm that why I made reservations - if we wanted to all sit separate we would have just shown up. Not impressed at all !!! :(

Loved it! Great service and staff. In and out and sufficiently stuffed. If you like quality Chinese food and a little something extra, try it.
