    2nd EDIT:
So, 2nd ride after they rebuilt my back tire, and three spokes have already broken again. Do not use this store. I'm not even calling them, they won't believe me, and they'll likely be incredibly rude. Cannot emphasize enough how disappointed I am with JV bike.

    FIRST EDIT
    :
On my return visit, they were much more cordial. They ensured I was happy with the bike before I left, and were calm and took the time to explain what had gone wrong with my gears. I still find it hard to believe that it was entirely coincidental, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. I still find the prices high, but I'm much happier with the service I received in person for my second visit than with the service over the phone.

    ORIGINAL POST:

    Prices are high
    Service is rude
    Quality of work is poor

I took my bike in for a back wheel repair, was given a quote, then when I went to pick it up, $80 in parts and taxes had been added that I had been told was already in the quoted price. The owner was very rude about honouring the original quote.

When I took it out for my first ride after picking it up, the back gear shift was stiff, and my gears came loose, so I was not able to pedal, as my chain kept falling off. When I called to complain, they said it was insulting to say that the work was unsatisfactory, and implied that it was somehow my fault for having transported it on a bike rack to get it home. The owner was again very rude and adversarial, and only grudgingly agreed to look at it again, but would not allow me to come in on a weekend for them to fix their mistake as they're "too busy".

If they had accepted their mistake, and been apologetic or accommodating, I would not have felt the need to review them poorly.

I had a positive experience with Ruben. I'm new to cycling and he set me up with a great road bike. I lucked out as the particular model I was interested in was on clearance. Ruben was honest and showed great interest in helping me. Their prices are very reasonable. Looking forward to the lifetime maintenance that I get since I purchased my bike from them.

Easily the best store for bike accessories in Vancouver. Every time I'm on the hunt for a light, pannier or the like I end up here simply because the huge selection isn't offset by higher prices,.. I will endeavour to START my searches here going forward.

Good sales and a clearance bin at the front. My father also brokered his e-bike upgrade here and I know people that have bought bikes here and were pleased.

Abusive staff/ownership. Purchased a gator bar for my daughter's bike, it was missing a part. Attempted to exchange for another (not to return it) and was attempting to explain what was missing, when the owner started raising his voice, saying how there are all these missing parts on other returns and they are costing them money. When I asked him to stop yelling, he threatened to call the police. Would not recommend to anyone. The most terrible customer service experience I've ever had in my life.

Just bought a classico by opus and experienced great customer service. Staff was knowledgeable and the owner was personable. Lifetime tune ups is a huge plus.

Quick and easy bike rental with great service. All the bike were well tuned, no issues, glided just fine. They also provided locks so that we could enjoy the many restaurants and shops Vancouver has to offer. Don't worry about the rate, they charge the best deal for you once you return. The ride from there to Stanley Park, around and back at a VERY casual pace was about 4 hours. Around $28 canadian / per bike rental.

Super helpful, honest, quick & quality service. Overall reasonable cost. Definitely will keep coming back here.

I've been here a couple times now. One time they fitted my bike for a pannier rack. My bike is a difficult size to fit and they figured it out quickly compared to other places I had tried previously. More recently I swapped out the flat handlebars on my bike for cruiser style bars because I was having back problems. They modified the bike perfectly and it feels 100% more rideable. They turned it around so quickly too!

I love that they always put air in my tires for me too. :)

Super professional staff. I had my old bike "upgraded" to become an electric bike and they did a wonderful job almost one year ago_ and everything is perfect since them. No issues at all.
If you want to buy an electric bike or want to modify yours to become an e-bike, this is the place to go.
They also have a big variety of bikes that aren't electric and they carry bike accessories as well.

Excellent! Convenient. Pleasant service. 200 dollar deposit: no problem! Discrimination: Not at all. Just a smart business model.

These guys are really awesome - everyone (repair and retail shop) is knowledgeable and friendly.

I've bought a used bike and lock from them at a discount, and when my seat bearing was stolen, they replaced it for me free of charge.

Shoutout to Josh and the guys in the repair shop for always helping me sort out adjustments and tune-ups.

A lot of shops are very business/gritty like but these guys are genuine.

Great experience, and will be back!
