Takeshi is such a sweetheart! I have recently moved to Vancouver and struggled to find a stylist who could cut my hair like my Paul Mitchell color expert from back home in the United States. Takeshi expertly cut my hair just like my previous stylist based on the photo I shared with him and a few questions about my personal preferences. He was very considerate and careful, as well as patient with me when I practiced my limited Japanese with him. I think quality hair care is worth invest in and although AOI is more than I would have spent back home in the U.S., it's prices are very comparable to other salons I've found in Vancouver. I highly recommend Takeshi and AOI salon.

I had many haircuts done there and I loved the service. Until the day I decided to get permanent waives. I paid $157 (which by the way was said to be around $75 when I called first). The effect disappeared after the first wash. It was actual nothing. My hair wasn't even slightly puffy anymore. I came back to the salon, expecting a free redo or a refund, but in reality I didn't even hear a single "sorry". Instead, Sayaka said that I just don't know how to style a perm. Ehmm..I spent $160 to see my hair acting exactly the way it did before, and now I'm accused of not knowing how to style it? Then she said that my hair's too fine, so I might just need another session (regular priced, of course). No thanks I'm not willing to waste another $160. After about 10 mins of hearing the same things repeated to me I just left. So in two words, they are nice until something goes wrong. When it does, be ready to face some really rude and unprofessional attitude. Someone below posted about wasting $440 on straightening that didn't work - high five, I understand the pain :'(

I booked an appointment with Takeshi while in Vancouver working on project. I am 57 yrs old and tired of the same old - same old hair cut. Takeshi showed me a cool style short on sides and long on top. Told him to do whatever he wanted he did an amazing job lol!

I am really pleased with his work. He is detailed. It feels great to be in style and the time and care he spent spoke volumes. Thank you so much I will be back every time I am in Vancouver.

The experience was pleasant enough - people are sweet BUT the end result was DISAPPOINTING! After paying $440 for the Japanese straightening process, I am STILL having to use my hair straightener to SRAIGHTEN my hair!!! Staff are too worried to do something wrong, instead of doing it right. DO NOT SIGN THE WAIVER FORM. I will NEVER go back.

I am so glad I made an appointment to see Takeshi. I just had an expensive haircut only days ago in Victoria and went back to the salon to have it fixed and I still wasn't happy. I made the best decision to have Takeshi cut my hair. He was so patient and caring. He took the time to explain what was needed to bring my hair back in shape. Every step he took, he confirmed I was ok with it before he proceeded. I am so happy with my cut. It was beyond what I had envisioned! Thank you so much Takeshi for fixing my hair! I will be back whenever I'm in Vancouver!

I have been going to the salon for about a year. I would totally recommend it! Takashi is absolutely amazing and he pays attention to the hair cut each time. My hair always grows out nicely even after 5 months from the last hair cut. Friendly staff and professional service

I've just had my hair cut today and it looks amazing! I booked with the Senior Style Director Sayaka and I'm extremely satisfied with the result. She was very attentive to every detail I gave about my hair and the way I would like it to look like. Very detailed and personalised service. She also commented all their straightening perm products are from Shiseido, imported from Japan which for me are the best ones.
    Highly recommend this place
