This is good if you need it for one night, but don't expect too much. The towels in my room had some stains on them, as well as on the bed sheet. The breakfast was okay expect for the runny scrambled eggs. The concierge I dealt with wasn't very friendly and wasn't welcoming. All the others smiled and greeted you when you walk by. If you're on a tight budget, stay here. Otherwise, pay a bit more and stay somewhere else
I have stayed here for almost two years now as a mini vacation from Edmonton!! The staff and management treat you like family evening the cleaning manager!! The restaurant is run by a wonderful family and Mamma does the cooking!! They also have gluten free on their menu and deliver to your hotel room!! The rooms are very clean and the beds are so comfy you don't want to get out of them!!
Location is convenient with accessibility to C-train, although a very commercial area, not at all scenic. About 15 minutes from downtown core on C-train. Hotel is clean, breakfast was quite what you'd expect for a continental breakfast, but with the addition of scrambled eggs and sausage patties. Pool area was nice and mostly unused which was great for us, although heavily chlorinated. Staff were helpful.
A decent place to stay in Calgary. The location is a touch seedy, but situated close to the CTrain and seconds from downtown driving. Building is clearly aging, and maintenance in the rooms could be stepped up, but the service has been prompt, attentive, and proactive, which is very much appreciated. The room includes a mini fridge, and single cup coffee maker. Breakfast is listed as continental in some places, but I was pleasantly surprised to find hot elements as well: sausage rounds, eggs, and even self-service waffle irons with ready batter! There was a staff member managing the breakfast area and keeping everything stocked and clean, who even provided additional assistance with a specific request. Not perfect, but exactly what I was looking for, and definitely would stay again.
1. WiFi speed was a joke even with only one device connected (or you could pay $5 for "high speed" Internet so you know they're grubbing for money)
2. The bathtub didn't drain so we had to request maintenance
3. When we asked for an extra towel for our room, we didn't get it until the next day
4. The bathroom wasn't very clean
5. The guy at check-in on our first night definitely hated his job
The room itself was alright and the location was pretty good but I'd never stay here again.
I'm not sure if it's all of the Day's Inn chain, but I feel like this place has cut a few too many corners. When we checked in on a Saturday, there was only one employee to serve a line of about 6 guests, answer the phone 2-3 times, and keep an eye on the security cameras. He said he had to take his break whenever there were no customers to serve. The AC unit in our room had not been cleaned recently, and smelled moldy. The continental breakfast was understaffed and didn't have the best choice. There was only one elevator for all four floors, and the conference level. Finally, I'm not sure if it's just me, but the floor layout was really weird. The first level (not the lobby level) seems disconnected from the rest of the hotel, and doesn't have elevator access. On the plus side, the staff (though seemingly overworked) were quite cheerful.
Very friendly staffs. Nice rooms. Only thing that is missing is an oven.
The hotel was very nice. the staff where very friendly, and there is a music venue downstairs (access from the street only) I saw the ICP after part there, what an awesome event. ICP, KungFu Vampire, Big Hoodoo, plus a bunch of other artists where hanging out having drinks, two thumbs up
Good prices, not too busy, and friendly staff. Would stop there again when I'm in town
Parking was difficult to find, getting into the room was even more difficult! It seems they have a problem with the door locks. We needed to get a guy to let us in (Not because the card didn't work, the lock wouldn't open and were not the only ones). The room was very small and we could hear people in the hallway talking all through the night. We didn't get a lot of sleep. I would not return to the place and I would suggest that you avoid it also
Good breakfast area, Nice and really large rooms. Close to the Calgary Tower and very good staff. Just very inconvenient, with only ONE ELEVATOR. The elevators get so crammed that you cant even fit luggage, and theres always a Janitor in the elevator taking up 89% of the space.
