I have had my hair cut twice by Jason and he's really great. I went from long to short and he did a great job. Several days after the cut I'm still very pleased. On my recent visit though I saw the salon has put wooden benches in the waiting area where there use to be couches and they are quite uncomfortable.

My latest colorist was amazing! super friendly and nice to talk to. she made sure I understood that my end goal was achievable but would take a few sessions - I would much rather have the proper expectations so this was much appreciated. I would for sure go back to her to reach that end goal color.

my previous colorist however, left a bad taste in my mouth and i put off coming back in for 9 months cause I didn't really want him to work on my hair again. when I explained that I wanted to get to an ashy blonde look he took offence to my description (i had even brought in a photo) and reprimanded me saying that he hated when people said "ashy blonde" cause they don't know what they are talking about so if they don't know what they are talking about they shouldn't ask for it. Sorry man - I didn't mean to offend but he could have explained the difference instead of getting mad. I don't do hair and totally thought that ashy = a bit of grey. when I used the same description and showed the new stylist the color she agreed that it was indeed ashy. i didn't appreciate getting in trouble with someone who i was paying for a service. he also complained that he under quoted me and my hair took a lot more work than expected but he had consulted with me two times before quoting so i don't think that that a) my fault and b) something that he should even mention to the customer.

overall would go back but would 100% stick with the same colorist (Courtney)

I meant to post this sooner - I had a wash/cut/style with Michael last year and it was the best hair styling experience I've ever had! Staff made me feel welcome and comfortable serving me tea as I waited, the wash/shoulder massage was so relaxing and calming, and the cut was incredibly efficient, accurate, and exactly what I wanted (I've had many hair stylists in the past get the layers wrong for my hair type). The styling was my favourite part - it was the most beautiful blow-out I've gotten, perfectly shaping my face, and it lasted for days! I also got colouring done which was my first experience with hair dye ever, and it was seamless and stress-free.
The best part of all this though was the customer service - Michael was so professional, attentive, empathetic, and kind. He really takes the time to listen to what you want and understand it until we figure out what works best for your hair, he's so gentle when brushing your hair (not like all the painful, careless yanking I've had in the past at other places where it feels like they're pulling my hair out), and he was encouraging and gave great guidance as we dyed my hair which I had previously felt nervous for. I think the biggest testament to his professionalism though was that at the time I was recovering from a health issue that had left my muscles very weak, and when I had trouble getting out of the chair at the wash station, he didn't miss a beat in helping me up while being friendly and warm, helping me to not feel self-conscious about it. As a customer, that makes me comfortable to return no matter what's going on in my life.
I've gone to many hair stylists but since this appointment I've been recommending this salon and specifically Michael to all my family and friends! I moved away but would love to come back when I can! Thank you Michael!

I worked with Vennessa for highlights. First time due to miscommunication I didn't get 100% as expected however the entire team as well as Vanessa were so nice in taking me back & trying to gain my satisfaction beyond my expectation. I was very satisfied with the service . Looking forward to go back.

I wanted to treat myself to a wonderful haircut so I called Civello for an appointment. I was told that only their head stylist was available for a cut on the day I wanted. Even though that meant I had to pay $150 to have my hair cut by her, I agreed because I wanted the best. This head stylist gave me the worst haircut that I have ever had. I have long thick hair and even though I asked for layers, she kept it all one length and used thinning scissors to thin out my hair. I have been wearing my hair in a ponytail ever since. Can't believe their head stylist gave me a thinned out blob of a haircut. Not going back.

Anatole (probably butchering the spelling of his name) was absolutely fantastic. There is nothing more annoying than awkward fake conversation during a hair appointment, but he kept it to a minimum instead of asking transparent "get to know your client" questions. His work was meticulous but quick. He gave me a shoulder massage and a scalp massage. With every additional extra mile feature, I tallied up an estimate of the bill. I was floored when they told me it was $45 (due to the $20 off first visit coupon). I have extremely thick long hair and I pay no less than $100 for a root retouch without the bells and whistles. Very impressed, have already recommended to several friends who live in the area and will likely take time out of my next visit to Toronto to have my hair done at civello.

The one star noted above is definitely alarming however, I'm hoping to leave a second review with a much higher rating. This is because on May 11th, when I went to Civello, I interacted with two different people. I originally had my consultation with Alana (who is amazing) and I immediately booked my dye with her but it was for a couple months later. I was told it was okay to book this far in advance as well. When I showed up I was not directed to Alana, but another person. The female who I was directed to was extremely unfriendly from the beginning. When I sat down she asked what I wanted - this was shocking because what is the purpose of taking time out of the day to come for a consultation and then come in again only to start over..Anyway, I began describing what I had wanted. When I had my consultation, Alana and I had agreed on exactly what I wanted, and she noted that if I didn't find adequate pictures of the colour I wanted prior to coming in this was okay because she would have some pictures for me to look at. Needless to say this is exactly what happened. I brought in pictures to show the type of 'melting' look I wanted going from my natural root colour to a lighter, almost blonde at the tips. But I could not find the right colour. I was absolutely BERATED for this. I tried to explain what I was told and explain what was conversed in my consultation only for her to responding with the most condescending things. At one point she literally told me that I "did not understand the process or what I was asking" in a tone I have never even received from my own family members. In front of a full salon, I was utterly embarrassed. It got to the point where I was getting out of the chair to LEAVE because I was so upset. And honestly, on the verge of tears. Thankfully, Alana was working on a client in a chair close to this and overheard what had happened, she came over and said she was able to switch her next appointment around so that she could work with me instead. I never received an apology for the way I was spoken to or an apology at all except for from Alana who thanked me many times for being patient. I cannot adequately describe in this review how terrible of an experience I had, or come close to describe the tone and things said to. Overall - this was the worst experience I have ever had as a client, anywhere.

The salon is so great and Grant is the best! He is such a great listener and really tries to understand what you want. He also walks through every step and pricing which I love. I"m so happy with the colour he has done for me the last few visits. I recommend him to anyone!

Sandra is the best in the city for a natural, long-lasting colour & hilights. I love Aveda's line of gentle colour products. My hair never looks or feels damaged. The shoulder massage with every service is a nice touch.

This place was alright. The haircut was pretty good but I felt like I was in the middle of a sales pitch for Aveda products, which I didn't appreciate. The location is beautiful and the salon is lovely though.

My wife and I booked a Botanical hair and scalp treatment, which is 45 minutes service which was confirmed to be $75 when we made reservation. We got a scalp massage for exactly 3 minutes and then a shampoo. My treatment was done in 20 minutes, my wife took little longer because she got a blow dry. Absolutely waste of money, never again. Then at check out they wanted to charge $140 per person based on the seniority of the staff that performed service. I agreed to pay the $75 but it was waste of money. Would not recommend anyone to use Civello, rather pay little more and go to real spa. Never again.

I've been going to Dylan for hair cuts for at least 10 years now. She is very professional, friendly and you can see her passion for hair through her cutting technique.

During one of my many visits someone else was blow drying my hair and she took over because she knew that wasn't how I liked my hair. I appreciated that she made sure I would leave happy. She now only does my blow dry and flat iron herself.
