I was actually really surprised with all the bad reviews. I bought a bike on sale this week was in the shop 3 days in a row. The same salesperson, Liam was super helpful and patient with me. Other customers came in and he had no problems multi tasking.
In defence of the other reviews, I went into the Queen West location 3 years ago to buy a lock and it was full of rude, pretentious hipsters. It seems like BoW are actively trying to fix the problem with less-toxic employees and my amazing experience this week should be proof of that.
Underwhelming selection of everything in store, including bikes, and prices are steeper than comparable bike stores not far from here.
Staff have an air of snobiness and are moderately helpful at best. Often seem like they're already tired of dealing with you.
i get a really good bicycle here, but the service depend on who is on duty that day. a bit expensive, u will enjoy better service in other shops with same money.
Very knowledgeble and friendly staff. No sales pressure. Large selection and very fair prices
As a mate put it plainly 'where you go to get rinsed'
Staff were cocky and unwelcoming from the get go. I asked some basic questions and got some over complicated responses in an attempt to belittle me into paying the ridiculous prices they were throwing down.
The good stuff: Store was clean and well presented.
Really poor customer service. Staff had an unwelcoming attitude from the moment I entered the store. After paying for a basket $129.95, I noticed it had paint scratches inside and outside because of the way it was stacked. All the baskets were scratched, so I asked if they could either paint it for me or provide a discount, which is not unreasonable. If I'm paying $129.95 for a new product, I expect it to not have any defects. I don't think it's my problem that it wasn't taken better care of. One solution could be putting a protective layer between the baskets, so this doesn't happen.
I was told no with an attitude. I decided to return it because I found the same basket for cheaper in MEC and because I didn't appreciate the way the situation was handled. Reading other 1-star reviews, it looks like I'm not the only one who's had a poor customer service experience, so I would suggest you listen to your customer feedback and deal with the core issue instead of just doing damage control in the comments, especially for an overpriced bike store. Will never go back there and don't recommend anyone to waste their time there either.
The mechanic at BOW is always the best! Such great customer service and always so friendly. Highly recommend.
I just want to thank the kind and friendly staff for giving me a near 3 week extension on their one year free tune-up policy after a bike purchase. They didn't make it a big deal and they let me sneak in my free tune-up despite being three weeks late. Greatly appreciated! :)
Decent place to buy a pair of pants. Bought an entry level cross bike. They said they would give me a fitting. What they did was completely phone it in wasting both our time.
I bought the bike and was happy for a while. When i brought it in to get the shifting tuned up they couldn't figure out the problem and suggested i upgrade to a campagnolo drive train. This was ridiculous to me and permanently erodedmy trust in this establishment.
Went in to get my chain lubed. The person who I assume to be a manager immediately insulted me for not having chain lube. I explained that I haven't had time to properly maintain my bike during the winter, and he sarcastically remarked that it doesn't take a day to make my chain look the way it does. I don't understand the reason behind any of those remarks but not the first time a wannabe overpriced shop displays poor customer service. Don't recommend going if you need anything but an overpriced bike/apparel.
Order a bike online, price was good, packaging 10/10, maybee e-mail response should be faster.
I went in to buy a few things but didn't end up getting anything because the sales person had such an attitude right from the start and was super rude for no good reason. It's a cool shop and I'm sure not everyone treats their customers like they're unwelcome there, but this experience left a bad taste in my mouth.
I ordered a bike Monday night. I was told that I had to assemble it myself when it arrives, but was provided with alternatives such as partial assembled, or fully assembled but I would have to come pick it up at their location. I took the partially assembled route and was told it would be at my house by the next week. I got an updated email saying that they fully assembled my bike instead and it was ready to ship on Wednesday! I ended up getting my fully assembled bike within 2 days.
The customer service was amazing, very quick responses and very great attitude towards satisfying customer needs. Definitely would love to do business here again!
