I love this bookstore. Wonderful ambience, I stay for hours. Wide selection of health, spiritual and personal development books. The gift shop has beautiful items.

Cool store. Good prices. A frequent shopper. But I notice management is not very friendly. Hope they can do better next time and put some effort in to some proper customer service.

I love this store! I haven't checked out the book section thoroughly, just the decoration and other stuff.
Obviously, having this kind of store in Kitsilano, it is extremely overpriced. I bought a spa glove (massage glove in the sauna), and it was twice as expensive as in a drugstore. But the selection, the variety of things is quite impressive. The staff is friendly and helpful, too.response / report this review -

Love this store so much. Actually it is like walking into a different realm. People leave their drama at the door and are welcomed by smiles, beautiful smells of incense, and a selection of books, music, and spiritual items.
Not sure about the book, read the first chapter in one of their chairs. Not sure about the CD, listen to parts of it at the media centre.response / report this review -

It's a great independent book store / spiritual goods store. You can find things from books, crystals, meditation material, ornaments, home decor. A lot of interesting things can be bought from here as well as events they have from book signings to other community events.

Banyen Books & Sound is an amazing store. The selection of books on the shelves is quite extensive. In addition, the store offers CDs, crystals, clothing, musical instruments, incense, greeting cards, etc. As I was looking for a deck of cards, I was extremely impressed by the oracle cards and tarot section which was very generous in its offerings. For almost every box of cards, there was a sample box so that I could get the look and feel of the cards and their accompanying guidebooks before I purchased my choice.
So why only 3 stars? Because the people who work there (and I saw 4 during my visit) are not as warm and friendly as the store and its offerings. Only one person, a gentleman, spoke to me and that was to ask me to move so he could get a book off the shelf. But he did that very courteously and with a smile. The other 3 staff members did not acknowledge me at all--no smile, no 'can I help you,' nothing! I even complimented the cashier about the store and she never said thank you or responded to me at all.
In my estimation, Banyen Books & Sound deserves 5 stars for its tasteful space and the generous selection of New Age and metaphysical items offered. But the staff members deserve 1 star for their treatment of customers. In this day and age when we can find and order literally anything online (and often at a lower price!), wisdom suggests that excellent customer service is the one reliable way to build customer loyalty and ensure that customers continue to shop at your "brick-and-mortar" store rather than only online.response / report this review -

Best New Age Store on the West Coast - period. Others may try, but only Banyen manages to carry an enormous selection while creating an idyllic oasis of peace and serenity as you browse the shelves. Extensive genres, tarot, gem-stone and yoga sections that far outstrip similar shops. But what puts Banyen over the top are the peaceful corners with chairs for browsing, and a yoga/meditation area with all sorts of seating and pillows just for hanging out. One of the best ways to while away a rainy Vancouver day!

This is, in my opinion, the best library in Vancouver. I absolutely loved the "vibe" there, it was so peaceful to shop in Banyen. Plus, they have an amazing variety of books to offer!

This is not your average bookstore . No cheesy romance novels here . This is a spiritual ,mystical and magical place that has everything from Carl Jung to Raw vegan cookbooks . I love this place . The other side has singing bowls , crystals and stones , unique and affordable jewellery, incense and Himalayan salt lamps .and so much more . You feel peaceful in this space .

Authentic, cozy bookstore with a side of gifts. You can find everything here from yoga supplies and wear, crystals, essential oils and natural beauty/skincare, and treats from a wide variety of spiritual backgrounds. They also host events!

I was an online shopper, purchasing my meditation bench and a blanket after I was unsuccessful finding one elsewhere online. My items were perfect, and arrived quickly. This will be my first choice of places to shop next time!
