Feels like home from the moment you walk through the door. I love the gardens, especially the resident gardens! It's definitely a gem where our seniors can enjoy their retirement.

Spend some time at the residence before deciding to live here. Ask questions and make sure you follow up on answers. Talk to residents. Activities that are "included" are likely to cost extra. Cleanliness is not a priority, service is rushed. Safety and taking the abilities of the residents into consideration is poor. Staff are friendly and quick to smile.

I stayed at Applewood for 4 weeks while recovering from surgery .I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was not what I thought a retirement home would be. The staff and residents were very kind and helpful. The rooms grounds and patio were ideal for me to keep my dog with me .I was happy to be treated to home style meals that reminded me of home. I would not be afraid to return to Applewood at any time for a short or permanent stay.

My mom moved into Applewood Retirement Residence about 6 months ago and, the move has been a very positive one. The atmosphere at the retirement residence is about as close to a feeling of home as you can get. The rooms are bright, spacious, nicely-decorated, comfortable, and also kept very clean. The common areas are lovely; and the meals are nutritious, delicious, and well-presented. Laurie - the events coordinator - works very hard at planning a wide variety of wonderful events for the residents. And, each and every one of the staff at Applewood are absolutely amazing! They are skilled, hard-working professionals but also very caring, compassionate, kind, and always willing to take the time to lend a helping hand. I would highly recommend Applewood to anyone who requires additional personal care and support and is seeking a suitable retirement residence that will meet their needs.

My husband and I visited every retirement home in the Peterborough area and decided Applewood was the best place for my Mother. The size of the room, the private balcony, the general ambiance and the friendly staff were all key factors in our decision. My Mother has been at Applewood for almost 2 months and is glad she made the move. She loves the staff and has enjoyed improved health since moving in. I would definitely recommend Applewood Retirement Residence.
