Came here on the 3rd. Friendly staff, their signature dish is tasty, generous and value. I ordered the seafood risotto and feel absolutely scammed. For almost $25 I get lazy plating, 5 small prawns and 2 tiny CLOSED mussels in a SEAFOOD risotto. Worst part was too much tomato puree (I'll assume) was in the dish, couldn't taste anything but the overpowering sourness of tomatoes. Was not able to finish my plate. I expected better from a restaurant with such a reputation. Might come back in the future for another try but very, very disappointed.

Set menu work Christmas function was had at Universal. The food was brilliant for the pre selected choices. Drink prices great, function are was very suitable. We had a group size of about 40-50 and universal satisfied our appetite well and truly. I would recommend this establishment to anyone.

Always a popular place to eat, sometimes there can be a short wait to be seated. Trendy restaurant which attracts all crowds, very student friendly. They have a great Chicken Parma for $14 which comes on a plate about the width of the table, which includes the Parma, chips and a dressed coleslaw salad. Tastes pretty damn good, and amazing value for money. The portion is big, so if you're not a big eater get ready to share, otherwise they have take away containers too. Milkshakes are really good here too

Great just for a simple, tasty dinner. If you're just after tasty food at a reasonable price this is a great go too. The parmas are the famous dish and they are good and crazy cheap but the other food is delicious too. I had the grilled chicken with mushroom risotto and it was so tasty! Will definitely be back next time I'm after some comfort food.

TERRIBLE SERVICE .We were approached in a very disrespectful manner. Asked for a specific table which was empty and she yelled and said just take a seat here I need to serve other people. Completely inconsiderate toward her customers and had a very aggressive attitude.

Definitely a place you want to go if you're really hungry and happen to be on Lygon. You get quantity and quality with this place; the portions are huge and the food is delicious. Even though it's always packed, you never wait too long to get a table.

This place is amazing. Great friendly service and delicious tasty food. Even though the portion size is quite large it happily feeds two people and doesn't skimp on flavour or quality. The only thing to wash down a parma is a chocolate milkshake made with pure chocolate and not syrup. Great atmosphere and great price.

Arrived here on a weeknight, it was always busy as usual however we got seated quite quickly being a group of two. The lady who served us was friendly and chatty and took our order quickly. Didn't rate the crumbed meat balls for the chicken soup was nice. Not what I had expected. We also had the chicken salad. Serving sizes are generous. Good place to go with a group.

Food is great, the portions are huge but takeaway containers are always provided. Most of the staff are super friendly. The only problem is the limited space between seats and tables. It's understandable with their high demands though!

Had the famous Universal Chicken Chitzel ($14) Price was very reasonable, with generous portions - I reckon the dish could be shared amongst 2-3 people. Mushroom sauce complemented the juicy and tender meat very well. Served with a side of coleslaw and huge fries.

I truly enjoy starting my meal with some oysters followed by steak and chips. This is one restaurant that is frequented by locals and tourists. Good food and value for money.

Hohoho this place. The serve here is unbelievably generous, and in my opinion akin to the generous serve you may get in the states. I usually came here when I was a student at uni, and there's always something I feel like eating here. The parmigiana is tasty (and huge), Caesar salad is nicely made and has a variety of ingredients (and huge), fish n' chips taste good (and huge), and don't get me started on their yummy steak (and huge). It can get pretty crowded though.
