The quality of the cruise is not good for family with kids, especially if you don't have any pervious experience. The time is short and no one offers help. You have to keep grabbing people to ask help. You see staff chatting and they don't help us much. It took quite a while to get everything ready to snorkel. The only very helpful staff are the Tawainese guy and the photographer woman. Others just point and do nothing to help us.
The blonde guy drove the glass boat did not speak a word during the 20 minutes. Another surprise is that there is not much fish to be seen. The submarine experience is disappointing as well. At least the same guy explained the safety instruction on this one. At 12:00 lunch time, you see stafff eat before the guests, there is on one attending to the coffee and teas. The company is good to the stafff and that's good, but they should take turns to take care of the customers. There are a few workers at the suit rental and time is running out, they don't care I have two little children to help dressing up to return to boat. They demanded me to return the suits properly, flipping the inside out. I thought the whole experience is just to make money out of tourists. It is not educational. the service is quite bad. I would definitely go with another company next time.response / report this review -

Snorkeling is superb. Not a big deal if you don't do skuba unless you want that experience. I was very happy so was other family members. My 10 years old could also did it. Have fun

Absolutely brilliant. Being able to be based for the day on a fixed pontoon eases sea sickness on the voyage there and back letting you thoroughly enjoy the day. Brilliant facilities and well set up. Ignore the rest go with sunlover.

Great day out with the family. Our 3 y.o. was so overwhelmed with the fish and swimming at the reef. Plenty to see and do and lunch was better than your average spread. We were lucky that it wasn't overly crowded and weather was perfect. Bit disappointed the touch tank wasn't available but plenty of other things to do from the glass bottom boat to the submerged vessel and our little guy even fed the fish with the team. Great day!

An underwhelming experience. Expensive for what you get, and extremely busy. It is chaotic and slightly unorganised - great to see the Reef, but let down by the tour.

DEATH on the trip due to poor management and low response!!!!
Racist employee swore at us!!!!
This happened today Dec.13 2016. I am on the $199 trip with this company.
It took about 2 hours to get the destination, and the trip was extremely rough. The boat was not stable most of the time.
When we got the destination, we took the glass boat trip, the experience was alright, just to see some fish in the sea through a glass-bottom boat. This activity lasted about 20mins.
When we got back, we decided to have lunch. The lunch is also included in the price, be fair, the food is beyond my expectation. It was good.
After lunch, we decided to take the submarine to see deeper of the sea (included in the price). When we were lined up, accident happened. A tourist who was doing snorkelling reported an old lady was drowning. All of a sudden, all the crew members were rushing to rescue the old lady. It was a mess. There were lifeguards but they did not saw the drowning lady. THAT WAS TOTALLY IRRESPONSIBLE. Then they cancelled all the activities. People along with us in the trip said that they saw when the old lady was carrying back with foaming at the mouth. She had at least drowned for 2 mins without lifeguards' noticing.
That was a tragedy. We felt sorry for that old lady. It should be a happy family trip but now it is such a mess. We felt this company is so irresponsible and did not tell us what really happened. What they kept broadcasting was asking us for furthering instruction.
So we kept waited until 15:30. The trip back was quick and stable. But lots of the passages felt that this trip was unfair to them as well. The tragedy happened due to company's carelessness yet all passages lost their chance to join other activities. We felt sorry for that family and we want the company to refund partial of the tickets, as they did not provide what were promised in the ticket.
To be honest, ticket is not cheap, it is $199 per person. Most of us came as a family. They could earn a lot, yet they fail to protect its customers.
After the tragedy, we talked about our upset with the employees and suggest refund. What they did was kick the responsibility around. They said "there is no manager on the boat", "you have to go to the office when we get to the dock" etc. What makes us more angry is, there was a White employee who walked passed us and said "YOU CHINESE ARE DISGUSTING". Most of our group does not speak English well, but I have been studying here for quite a long time and I heard it. That is so rude. We, Chinese, disgusting? It is your company's job to protect passages and because of your failure, all other passages legal right has been offended. We are trying to protect ourselves, and excuse me? Disgusting? WTF?
Then we got off the boat to the office to find the manager. The clerk at the table said the manager has gone home. There was a death! and the manager has gone home?! And the clerk refuses to respond us. Then we called the police to help us solve the problem, and we met a police officer, she indicates the death of the old lady.

Excellent experience. I took my 10 year old son to snorkel for the first time, likewise it was a first time for me, I overcame my inital fear and had an unforgettable experience. I would highly recommend it.

I was very disappointed. I think the Great Barrierreef is for everyone a "once in a lifetime" thing and maybe that's why you have such high expectations. In my opinion the price / performance ratio is not given with Sunlover Reef Cruises. There are too many people on board, the announcements are made 1 time in English and then in Chinese and Japanese and other Asian languages. In addition, the equipment, especially the snorkel, was very inferior! In addition to that the Reef at the point where you were allowed to snorkel was very dreary. There was little to see of the unique coloring of corals.
Well there was also something Hood about the Cruise. You could use the glass bottom boat for free, but then a further negative point is: everything else as guided tours or wetsuits had extra cost.
Another plus is the food, which was really okay. However, it was not announced how long you could eat.
You should think about if this is really worth $ 200.response / report this review -

Very professional outfit, the staff were very knowledgeable, and helpful. The location of the cruise is second to none! Plenty of snorkeling equipment to cater for all manner of people, and the glass bottom and semi submersible boats were excellent. The lunch i found was extremely generous and of a high quality. If your looking for a day on the reef, this would have to be one of the best!
