Absolutely stunning , well worth the short walk.
Tropical expierence. Just fabulous.
Was interesting there is a big hole with a viewing platform 50m off water, water 73m deep water 17degrees. Then a walk by the pristine head waters of the Barron river
Saw a cassowary, the crater is really nice. Worth a look
Cold. Water. Three is a little cave behind the left waterfall but its hard to get in.
Beautiful waterfalls, nice spots for photos. Bring your tripod!
Beautiful park with quick walks to see both the crater and waterfall. The viewing platform especially shows how sheer and steep the crater drop is. Impressive. You can swim in the waterfall/creek area. The Google map directions (at time of review) are wrong. Just keep driving on the Kennedy highway until you see the brown road sign that says the name of the park. There is a pit toilet for both sexes. There is also a shaded picnic area.
The Crater is something special, and easy to access, via a short, almost flat walk. For a little more exercise there is an alternate path. The foliage is lush and interesting, and the crater itself is genuinely awesome. Recommended as a must see if visiting the area. Don't be put off by light rain.
The pictures and descriptions of the crater can't really do it justice. It's just vast, you think you would be looking down into a hole but the sheer scale of the crater and height of the walls is very impressive.
I recommend taking a big rock or a few stones to chuck into the crater it's very cool to watch them fall for what feels like forever and listen to the great echos.
