Terrible rooms. Nice staff but so over worked could not deal with the number of people booked in or any requests. Extremely bad at coordinating rooms, 1st room i was booked in at was already had guest so they moved me another room which you think was great but NO At 1 am another person entered the room (another double booking) such bad security.
Sad because palm cove is lovely but not at this hotel.

The room we stayed in was nicely situated, with the pool outside the door. For this time of year the prices are to be expected. I don't think I would choose to stay here again. The staff were courteous and friendly.

Currently staying at Grand Chancellor, Palm Cove. Booked several months ago and we had great expectations and where so looking forward to our stay. I must say that we are most disappointed, I would rate most of the experience below one star, given two because pool area is awesome, though in saying this there is limited lighting around the pool, and no pool lights in the pool, so kids could not swim in pool after dark. As to the food, I can understand why the restaurant was empty. Ordered food from the bar, after eventually being served, the special of southern chicken wings looked and tasted like the were cooked hours earlier and kept in a bain Marie, they were hard and dry. Also found out from some other dinners that the exotice sounding ham and pineapple Salsa pizza was a few pieces of maybe ham and a few chunks of canned pineapple, though they did say the crust was excellent. Should have paid attention that very few people dinning in bar area, and restaurant was empty, should have done what many others seem to have done and gone to one of the many great Palm Cove restaurants. The advertised movie playing on the "big screen" consisted of a smallish screen and 3 lounge chairs in the corner of the bar area, sound was so poor that the kids that where there to see movie gave up after a few minutes. Lying here in the room, (which by the way just scores a pass in cleanliness), and thinking if we should have breakfast here in the morning,or elsewhere, even though breakfast is included in room price. I have stayed in many hotels around Australia and the world, both by myself and as a family. I have never been compled to write a review before, hence is the level of our disappointment. As to the question of would we stay here again I would have to say the answer is no. Please forgive my rambling this is after all my first ever review.

Its ok but thats about it. Cleaniness could be a better standard. This place definitely needs maintenance and a revamp as I come here 13 years ago and its still the same. Only thing that has changed is a name change from Novotel to Hotel Grand Chancellor.
    Breakfast wasn't great !!
Would I stay here again ? Possibly not.

Hidden off the main street, yet still close. Lots of room. And the HIS coach driver was super helpful
