first time renting a car with hertz, and certainly the last time. there's an out-of-hours key drop, but the gate to the secure parking area are closed, so no chance to leave the car (unless taking the chance of parking on the street). the phone numbers provided either don't exist (hertz cairns central & city) or the call gets dropped every time I try (hertz cairns airport). given our flights are quite early, looks like I'll have to drop the car off at the airport.

Previously I have had really good experiences with Hertz car hires in Cairns and have recommended them to many of my colleagues. However recently when returning a car I was rudely greeted by who seemed to be a manager - 'Kerry' - if this was her real name. I walked through the door and in a foul tone I was told "WE ARE CLOSED!" at 17:10, yes I was a few minutes late, however the door was unlocked and the shop had 3 staff members inside which led me to believe they were still open. Kerry decided not to make eye contact, crack a smile and to continue talking in a foul tone which in my opinion is terrible customer service and a very poor role model for her junior staff.
I explained I was here to drop off a car and after a huff and a puff Kerry instructed me to "hand over the keys to her colleague" and then gave no further instructions. I stood there, like a lemon, and was totally ignored to then finally be told "it's fine, you can go."
I walked out of the shop and after walking a few steps I realised I was a paying customer who was having quite a good day before it was rudely ruined by Kerry.
Unfortunately that one experience with your one member of staff who decided to take her bad day out on everyone else has really quite ruined hertz for me and I will not be returning or recommending them again.response / report this review -
