Last Friday we came to this winery following recommendations from friends. we were delighted with our lunch and experience. There are so much open space around the historical Tuerong Homestead and the garden is beautiful. Menu is tapa style and simple but delicious. We had a bottle of Dromana Estate Chardonnay and a bottle of Dromana Estate Pinot Noir. Both are outstanding wines and excellent value for money. It is a perfect place for friends and family to catch up and relax to spend a lazy day!. At last the staff are very helpful and friendly. We really enjoyed our time at Dromana Estate and have no hesitation to recommend this winery ,

Most disappointed yesterday by woeful service at Dromana Estate. We booked for 12.00 lunch to share a daughters birthday with all the family. We were assured the market would not prevent us from parking near the 555 restaurant but had to park in a paddock of roughly slashed long grass which my disabled son had to negotiate with a 4Wframe.
Once inside, Pizzas and Fondue with vegetable sticks were ordered for children on the table while adults waited for ordered platters. My Bay platter and my husbands Paddock platter had not been delivered after waiting almost an hour. Others on our table had almost finished, when we were told our orders had been LOST! Eventually my Bay platter arrived, so my husband and I shared it, while waiting for his platter to come, but it never did.
When we asked why, my husbands order had been FORGOTTEN again. We cancelled the unfilled order and left still feeling hungry. No apology or explanation was given for failing to serve our lunch order twice!. We drove 80 minutes each way to attend a lunch with average food and poor customer service. I will not recommend Dromana Estate to anyone in the future.

Worst service I have ever experienced, got every single drink wrong & didn’t have any of the platters on the menu. The ‘boiler’ platter for sharing was cold steamed vegetables and flavourless cheese fondue. I had to go to the reception 3 times to order drinks and management didn’t apologise once for bad service and food even after contacting them privately twice.
Do not go there for any sort of special occasion, lunch or event you will regret your taste buds being wasted on such bad food & drink.response / report this review -

The place has potential but the entire experience was spoiled by extremely rude staff. And as you can see based on other reviews, it’s not a single occurrence. Don’t support a business that doesn’t respect their own customers.

The rudest staff I have ever come across. We were sat at a table for our tasting. We were 2 glasses short and when I informed the staff they tried to tell us some members of group had doubled up. I had to count the glasses myself and prove we were actually 2 down. We had pre booked and pre paid for lunch- dessert was not brought out or the after lunch truffles. When the staff were asked about this they said they thought we were happy drinking the wine. So we never ended up getting dessert and the truffles were boxed up for us to take away. The worst service I've ever had.

Came here as a large group for lunch. Unbelievably rude staff. Tried to short change us on tastings and our meal which were pre paid. Difficult to deal with. Do not go here.

La dolce vita ..
This is the life, the sweet life, weekdays, country roads, vineyard, not crowded, antipasto and wine after lunch.
Good spread on the antipasto and plenty of good "award-winning" wines to complement it.
Do it on weekdays, as it gets busy on weekends according to our lovely waitress, you'll be struggling for a bit of tranquility while your sensory senses are in action, conversing, nosing those subtle aromatic Chardonnay hue, sipping that Pinot Noir and gazing your eyes through that golden vineyard in autumn.

I celebrated my 70th birthday yesterday and enjoyed every moment of it in the relaxed atmosphere, with friendly staff, food and wine. I would highly recommend a family gathering there to enjoy each other's company. Christina

We went here for a 50th birthday lunch. $30 a head, and all we got were some very sparse antipasto platters, and some lacklustre pizzas to share. The food was average and not enough to go around. The table service was poor, we had to constantly ask for plates and cups and jugs of water. They completely forgot that we ordered a gluten free pizza, then denied that we've ever ordered it. Not happy at all. With so many wineries in the area, this one is definitely not worth visiting.

Dromana Estate DISGUSTED. I have been a regular at your Hideout@555 restaurant since it opened. I have recommended this restaurant constantly on Facebook. I CANNOT RECOMMEND THEM NOW. A restaurant can have the best staff, the best food but it quickly can go down hill when you have rude (Not only to their lovely staff but customers as well.) Owners. I have travelled the world and I have never had to endure what I witnessed today in Hideout@555 restaurant. I WAS SHOCKED. Great Staff members should be treated like gold. Not yelled at by the Owner of the Company, David and Cathy. Thinking about it now it was an excellent example of WORKPLACE BULLING. No person should be treated like that in the workplace.
Its a very competitive in the restaurant world. So if you are going to travel over an hour from Melbourne to the Mornington Peninsula you don't want to go to a restaurant where there is tension in the air. The staff's working environment has to be good so it then reflect in their service. I just feel so sorry for the staff . I would assume their anxiety levels would be up due to what I witnessed today, to their front of house staff member. It was unbelievable and unnecessary.
