Amazing experience if you love the Sound of Music. Many key scenes were shot around the hotel.

Breakfast is served in the incredible main room of the mansion.

Not many dining options close by but the Thai restaurant next door offered great food and service.

Such a beautiful hotel with stunning grounds. Staff all friendly and attentive. The breakfast in the palace was a highlight of the trip. The hotel is a little bit far out of the city centre but we didn’t mind; it was a lovely walk and easy to hop into a taxi if you were tired. I’m so glad we stayed here, definitely recommend especially if you are a sound of music fan

Beautiful place! Our room was very spacious and had a gorgeous view of the lake! Keep in mind that the rooms are not in the palace, but you have access to walk around the palace. The breakfast was amazing and the service was wonderful! We had a very nice experience !

    Such regal excellence!

One of Salzburg historical sites and the dedicated care from previous and current owners is evidenced in how beautiful it looks. Antiques exist in every corner with whole painted roofs and walls as old as the building, every room full of art and intricate decor.
From my room I got a beautiful view of the Salzburg ancient fortress and the many beautiful mountains that surround it.
Room suites are also fitted with everything to make your stay memorable, heaters for the snowy cold and a complimentary minibar.
The Staff were courteous and ready to help at all times.
You should visit the Christmas village if you are here in December, you deserve to see the many beauties of Salzburg!

When we made reservations we didn't realize the connection this hotel had with The Sound of Music but we certainly appreciated it after the fact. The lodging is comfortable and clean although the hallways could use some renovations. The highlight is the main/larger building where breakfast is served. The rooms are breathtaking and the setting and view amazing.

Beautiful location and rooms. Stunning grounds and it's amazing to have breakfast in an old-fashioned ballroom with views over the lake. The breakfast itself was delicious and all service has been prompt and efficient. Obviously not the cheapest hotel in the world but well worth the money if you can splash out. The local fish restaurant is also amazing, although again not particularly cheap.

Great welcome by reception and a genuine willingness to help. Rooms clean and modern. Breakfast is taken in the older building within the Ball Room. The library and other older classical rooms are available for use by all guests who can use them as a "sitting room" (as described by reception). A small modern cafe is located next to reception. There are many conferences, seminars and other events taking place. Great view over the lake. Stand in the spot where scenes for The Sound of Music was filmed overlooking the lake. Parking and taxis available. A 10-minute rural walk to nearest bus stop for trips in and out of Salzburg. The location is rural and restful. Neighbouring restaurant, WeiherWirt, offers a good range of lunchtime and evening meals and is recommended (a few minutes walk along the lakeside).

Worthwhile alone for a unique Sound of Music experience. Palace, gardens, lake lovely. Breakfast in Ballroom a treat. Very pleasant & helpful service. Premium room not special, rather bland & basic but spacious. Lovely walk into the centre up and over the mount.

One of the most beautiful scenery from the hotel premises, rooms are okay, tiny windows and no balcony in most rooms. Breakfast is average. They have one of the most beautiful library in the palace building.

Amazing historical locale, beautiful surrounding area. Only recently (4 years ago) converted into a hotel, so many cool, unique suites are available for those that love one-of-a-kind experiences.

We're at the hotel for a family wedding! A truly world-class and amazing place for a wedding. The landscaping on the grounds and the views across the river were unforgettable and the perfect setting for wedding pictures! The food and catering was also exceptional.

This hotel was where the Sound of Music was filmed and so I had a lot of expectations coming into it. And I am happy to say that this hotel met all of them! It was so nice and the sights we're beautiful! The building and the grounds where the Sound of Music was filmed were so fun to explore! The library is absolutely stunning! The breakfast is also authentic and delicious! I loved staying here and would definitely recommend it, especially to all of you Sound of Music lovers❤

Great breakfast in a decadent setting. Unparalleled scenic views of the lake. We didn't like the constant flow of seminar lecturer types who seem to have the "higher-than-thou" attitudes as they get in your way. Fortunately, the hotel staff are very professional and polite. From the male staff that received us late at night on 19 Feb to the lady that received us at the front desk in the morning - Miss Karin Maurer. Excellent service and we will be back. Hopefully fewer seminar saps on the next trip we make and more holidaymakers :)

Unique hotel with historical significance. Staff is helpful and attentive. No AC in rooms, can get toasty, however fans are provided. Hotel also has a lobby cat, which is awesome.

Very beautiful historic building. Rooms are dated and need to be updated. Nice presentation for breakfast but all very salty.
