Honestly, I didn't like Vergelegen wine.. So if don't take a lot of wines to taste and order just a glass of wine at restaurant for the beginning. We wasn't even able to finish our wine for tasting.
However, Stables restaurant was really good! Take a traditional South African Cape milk tart for dessert -- it was super tasty 😋
Also, views are stunning! There is a big garden with historical sites! Plan at least one hour to walk there 🌳🥀
Great service at the stable restaurant, they were fully booked but we were allowed to sit at some sofas to eat. I had a garden plate which was really light and delicious. Afterwards we explored the huge and beautiful garden. I will come back.
I visited the stable to have lunch. The foods was fairly nice. Also they equipped a kids friendly play ground and a beautiful garden.
I think here is one of the most attractive places in Somerset West.
A family birthday lunch in the most exquisite setting, great food at The Stables, friendly staff and excellent service. Definitely will be back.
Beautiful Wine estate with large gardens. We walk through the estate admiring the magnificent trees, vines, flowers and huge lawns.
We had breakfast at the Stables restaurant that was very nice. Food was good, and I tried the Red Rooibos milkshake that was very nice.
They are normally very busy so to make sure you have a table phone before to reserve a table
Nature photographers will love this place.
The wine tasting was very nice. Good quality wines
The downside is you need to pay R10pp to enter the wine estate.
The utopia for those who seek being baptised in a feast of raw nature, peacefulness, spaces to sit & ponder & reflect, places to sip and bite on something enjoyable, walking through old buildings and recapturing the peace and quiet of yesteryear
A huge thank you to the staff and management of the Stables. On Friday my friend and I took our "old friend" whose 90th birthday we were celebrating to the Stables and she was treated like a queen. What a Special experience it was with the friendly attentive staff really making it a wonderful day for all of us.
We also owe a special thank you to the lady in the homestead who took her to have a closer look at the flower arrangements which she had difficulty seeing in the distance as her eyesight is failing.
Thank you Vergelegan and Stables staff.oh and your scones are the best in the area.
This place is a must for the whole family. Exquisite nature, delicious food and wine and much variety in things to do.
Stunning wine estate with lovely views, wonderful restaurants with gorgeous manicured gardens and picnic spots. The scenery is well worth a visit for photographer types - there's even a great little museum on the estate for you to enjoy.
Just be aware that there's an entrance of R10 per person; it is worth it if you spend a few hours here.
What a beautiful place , really enjoyed the beautiful gardens , trees and history. Kids play area is the best I've seen and the food is awesome
Great estate beautiful gardens, wine tasting fantastic food fantastic great chef from Aus. Managers all are amazing. Adelain you run a great restaurant weldone
I went there for the sake of my sister - visiting from the Netherlands. The sirvice was beyond poor. Waited 45 min for a flat white to recieve a cuppuccino. Ordered a croissant and got a scone. My sister ordered a cheese toasty "with no ham" and chips for the children. It came with ham! And cold chips. (No ekstra chips for her son, as asked for). One plate of food would come out and not the rest. So we watched het husband eating his beef dish, while waiting for our food. The manager was of no help. The next evening we went to Espanã in Stellenbosch - there my faith was restored in good food and great service.
I normally thoroughly enjoy this restaurant and it's beautiful setting, but lunch last Sunday was a complete disaster. Not sure what went wrong but since we have so many nice restaurants in the area, I will give The Stables a miss for the time being. I truly hope they can sort out the problems in the kitchen soon
great service at the stable restaurant, they were fully booked but we were allowed to sit at some sofas to eat. I had a garden plate which was really light and delicious. Afterwards we explored the huge and beautiful garden I will come back next year!
We had a great family lunch here, all the kids with Grandma and Grandad too. Also a new boyfriend and and uncle me. Fantastic food great service splendid setting and marvellous art throughout the restaurant.
A favourite spot. Beautiful buildings and grounds. Special and well worth the visit.
Had a lovely experience. Pizza was delicious and the service was on par. Great stuff.
Probably one of the most enchanting wine farms I have visited. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking and the pizza we had was delicious (thin crust, wood fired). The wine itself is also quite delectable (we indulged in a refreshing chardonnay).
I will definitely be returning for their picnic set up. We opted for the restaurant instead because we didn't know booking was essential.
Such a beautiful place.
