Well stocked shop and mostly helpful staff until they skimped on additional work outside of what I asked them to do. They did the job (tubeless setup) improperly (bad tape job and not enough fluid). When I returned the following morning to try to get it done correctly they charged me full price to fix their mistakes despite the fact that I spent several thousand Rand there the previrus day.
Good customer service. I bought a bicycle at a different store but they adjusted my son's bike for free. Very friendly and offered great advice.
Great service. I always leave with a smile.
Great bike shop. Been around for years. Good selection, knowledgeable staff.
It"s a great place to get everything about bicycles at a reasonable price. The staff are very helpful and friendly too.
I bought a giant stance bike from Olympic cycles and i couldn't be more happy with it it rides so well and the bike hasn't given major issues so far.
Good service overall best helpfull, quick response when I was told I will be called back that called back with an quick update. Will deffs be going back.
Wide variety. I had my bike setup there
Decent service, some items a bit pricy. Good shop on the whole.
I bought a new mountain bike from Olympic Cycles on recommendation of my orthopeadic surgeon for exercise after a knee replacement. I explained why I wanted the bike and asked for it to be fitted with a larger seat, a side stand and several items, such as a mirror, and extended side handle bars.
When I brought the bike home, I found that the side stand wasn't working - it seemed too "short" to prop up the bike. The mirror wasn't properly fitted and it seemed to me (inexperienced biker) that the bike's gears were not properly tracked.
I had bought the bike just a few days before my surgery as I wanted it to be ready for my rehabilitation period post-surgically.
After the knee replacement, I had medical complications and instead of my being able to go straight into rehab, I was taken back into hospital for a follow-up operation.
My recovery has been very slow and when I finally made it to start exercising on my new bike, I found that it really needed a service (4 months later).
I immediately took it back to the Kenilworth shop where I bought it and asked them to check the front tire for a slow puncture and to deal with the mirror (totally loose), the side-stand (working) and then to please service the bike's gearing system for me.
I collected the bike 2 days later after receiving an sms to collect and that the bike was serviced. I also bought a stationery training device for R3500.00 and asked if it was easy to set-up the stand for the bike. I was told it is "very easy" indeed (Herman).
I brought the bike home and tried to set it up on the stationery trainer. It was very difficult, as it required that I measured and/or knew the diameter of the wheel (which I don't) and then wanted me to remove the central axle and fit the breaking system of the stationery trainer.
I tried to stand the bike, but found the side-stand, which was supposed to have been adjusted, was still not working. The mirror was still loose and the gearing still make funny noises.
I was outraged and called the shop and spoke to the sales assistant (Herman), and insisted that someone come to my home and service the bike properly and that that person does the fitment of the stationery trainer.
I was kept on a string for several hours on Monday (yesterday, when I called) and the shop could not commit to send someone to assist me before I needed to see my surgeon yesterday.
They promised someone would be here today (Tuesday). A gentleman from another branch who didn't know the bike, came and said they gave me the "wrong stand" and when I asked about the stationery trainer, he seemed to be unfamiliar with it and when I asked him whether he had ever fitted one of these systems, he seemed to be clueless.
He then told me he needed to take the bike back to the shop to set it up.
I have now lost 4 entire days of training in preparation for my follow-up surgery on the 13th March - I bought the bike solely for the purpose of getting range extension on my knees and to strengthen my leg muscles as a rehab after my previous operation and in preparation for the second knee replacement.
I need to comment that the service rendered by Olympic Cycles Kenilworth is so far below par, that they really don't deserve a sale that cost me close to R20,000! I complained to the salesman, and now wish to up-regulate my complaint to the owners of Olympic Cycles. Your company is supposed to be specialists in bikes and with that accolade a non-biker and someone with a disability would have thought I could trust you with my life on wheels as I sought to start exercising. It seems that I made a grave mistake coming to you instead of to another bike company.
Excellent selection and well known cycle store for being well established in Cape Town. However the service department can take you for a ride on your own bike and between initial phone call quotes, quotes on drop off and final bill, the total amount due grew every time. So feels like you leave ripped off. Sad when they are actually quite efficient with a good SMS notification service and average 1-2 day service turnaround.
