A must visit when in George. Food, breads and delectable cakes all home made. They also have delicious vegetarian dishes.

Best food ever if you love wholesome, home cooked food. The salads are amazing and they have a banting menu.

Travel Bugs are situated in the centre of George just off York Street next to medical facilities. I am sure that lots of visitors to the hospital are regular guest. Walking into the restaurant you will find inside seating, and pass the open kitchen to the courtyard area where you can sit outside. You should find the prices reasonable, a good selection on the menu and the food are tastefully presented. The service is friendly. There is a restroom and I would say it is wheelchair friendly, although it might be a little difficult to move around inside due to the tables being close together. There are plenty of parking in this area, but because of the other businesses and the medical facilities, a open space can be a problem.

Fast friendly cafe and restaurant with a wide range of travel literature available for browsing. Menu is interesting and varied and they can do take away as well.

One of my go-to places when I want to stick a friend for coffee or read up on my next adventure. The romance in the place for me personally lies with the idea of travelling the globe - and indeed I'd recommend a coffee at the Travel Bugs while browsing the mini-library of destinations they have available there. It's the only cafe in George I know of that actually has a mini-library of travel destinations on their premises. Harvey World Travel is conveniently situated right next door. Note though they close at 17h00, so no after-work travel research unless you go on a Saturday morning. The decor of the coffee shop / cafe follows the travel-trend, with areas sectioned off in the back courtyard following a tropical theme while a more modern, oriental look dominates the front.
I rate it three starts because of two reasons. It's happened once or twice that I went there and menu offerings weren't available. I've also been there a few times where the staff are less than attentive and I'd usually have to wait quite a while or go call someone if I want service. This makes it really inconvenient during a restricted lunch hour.
On to the menu and prices: the prices are average, and I'd say you get a good deal for what you pay. The food has always been well-prepared and delicious, and the beverages are what you'd usually find in a coffee shop / cafe. Their breakfasts are particularly nice, and they do have some carb-conscious meal options available.
All in all I'd always go back to the Travel Bugs, especially when I've been bitten by the persistent travel bug.
