Overrated. Too many flavours on every plate and it just didn't work. Tried 3 starters, 3 mains, all mediocre. Great interior but food disapointing.

Still one of my favourite places in stellenbosch. Amazing high quality food, amazing views, amazing stuff, breathtaking atmosphere, beautiful garden with stunning art, a new place beside, like a bistro a bit more easy then the main restaurant but as well beautiful.
If you’re around, please don’t miss to eat here. The rosé is our favourite wine here. Make a reservation for lunch on the terrace. Bring some time and enjoy an Uber. It’s magical :)response / report this review -

The place is very beautiful and trendy, but the food and wine is not so great. The food lacks seasoning and some of the plates have mixtures that don't work well together. The wines we tasted are ok if compared to the other options we had on other vineyards. In summary, it's more about fashion and less about wine/food.

This was the first stop on our wine tour and I wish it would have been our last - only because I would have bought more wine!! The glass viewing room was gorgeous and the staff was kind enough to close the windows/doors when the wind really started to pick up. The olive oil and balsamic tasting was a nice accompaniment too!

We really enjoyed our wine tasting at Tokara. Our server was very attentive and quite informative. The views were breathtaking and really added to the experience. There are multiple balconies you might sit at to enjoy the scenery. My wife and I would have picked this location as a wedding venue if we were local to Cape Town.
As an added bonus, you get a free wine glass with your tasting.response / report this review -

Bland average food, only presentation was good. We were seated next to the sliding door and cold air was blowing straight onto us. It also felt like we were rushed in and out by the staff. Overall, after driving for an hour to come try out this high end restaurant, it was a great disappointment.

Bad staff. Went there around 11am on a Monday and no one came to us asking if we wanted to go for a wine tasting or the restaurant. When we finally got to the wine tasting place, the guy attending us kept laughing with another staff right in front of us, apparently making jokes. We didn't stay there, changed our itinerary and went to another wineyard with a much better staff.

Quality and taste sensations. The meals and wine were just fabulous. The view stunning and service attentive. R2.5k for 4 people. Highly recommended.

Amazing wine and tasting but even better service from Axwim. He was warm, knowledgeable, and personalized our tasting (basically we had a great time chatting). And the site is obviously beautiful. We didn't eat at the restaurant but friends have described it as the best meal of their lives.

This sophisticated space ticks all the boxes if you feel inclined to wine, food, architecture a fabulous setting in the vineyards, sculpture and art. Friendly and welcoming service.

Great place with wine tastings and olive oil tastings. Recommend the Extra Virgem cold pressed. Not sold in bottles. Need to fill up a bottle at the very place.

All you lovely people that care enough for your dogs to take them with on holiday - give Tokara a miss. Your best friend is not welcome there - the ONLY place during our holiday that refused them. Go a bit down the road to Le Pommier Wine Estate where your dog gets water before you get the menu and the food is fairly priced and awesome.

Amazing food; had the lamb, Wife had the steak I am sure it doesn't matter what you order here, the whole menu will be good. amazing atmosphere. Amazing service. Amazing view. This experience is one of the best ever. No words can do it justice. Just go and you are guaranteed a very memorable experience.

I have been visiting this restaurant since before its revamp in 2010 and I just love it more and more every time I go there. The food never disappoints and the views are some of the best imaginable. Highly recommended for those whom like gastronomic invention and simply enjoy fantastically presented gourmet meals. The staff are well trained and professional in everything they do. The menu is regularly updated, so new favourites are always on the horizon
