Very unhappy evening at Hussar Grill last night.Booking was made one month in advance,I call 30mins before to reconfirm.Arrived at Hussar at 8pm as booked. No table for 50 minutes.Management told my family and I on three occasions during 50 minute wait that they were busy setting the table!!!!It was a booking for 4 adults. We all ordered steaks two were just ok and the other two were very tough. That was the rump and the ribeye on the bone.It will be a long time if ever I go back to a Hussar Grill.

Fillet Bearnaise 300g is a must for meat lovers, just add some sides like gratinated corn, creamed spinach, cinnamon infused butternut and the potato mash and you are set up for a perfect steak meal. Oh and don't forget to add a nice bottle of Pinotage to wash it all down with. After enjoying this truly wonderfull feast we paused to consider a dessert and we were offered the chocolate vodka martini on the house, which we accepted without delay it was warm rich and delicious and a perfect way to end the meal. The cost was less than 350 rand per head which is a fantastic price for what we received.

Don't bother - lots of nice independent restaurants nearby. We went on a recommendation, but were left waiting at the bar (without drinks) waiting for a table despite every table outside and inside being empty. We finally got a seat, but still had to wait ten minutes for someone to take a drinks order. When our food arrived, mine was completely overcooked and tough even though I ordered a rare steak. My partner's was much more rare than mine, despite having ordered a medium cooked steak.

They replaced the food but it was still tough and not very good, I left most of it. And then we had to wait twenty minutes for someone to give us the bill before we lost patience and went to pay at the front desk - at which point someone wandered off to get change, forgot about us, and it took even longer for us to leave. We saw much nicer places as we left, and wished we'd gone somewhere else. Save your money and try somewhere independent.

Very popular restaurant for good reason. Unfortunately this restaurant is so popular that it is always packed and the acoustics are terrible. We were a table of four and were battling to have a conversation. There were a few hiccups with our meal but staff dealt with them very professionally. I regret to say that due to the ambient noice we will most likely not visit again, which is a real shame.

Glad we booked as the restaurant was full! We were able to get a table on the partially enclosed deck area outside ~ blankets provided for chilly nights. The fillet was a bit bland (needed a sauce); should have ordered my usual rump steak.

Booked a table for 2 people for 19:30 last night, when we arrived Hussar Grill was pretty packed and the vibe was great so we were looking forward to our evening. We had to approach the waitress who was ringing up a bill and tell her that we had a booking for 19:30 and could someone possibly show us to our table that we had booked. We were told that the table was being prepared and that we could enjoy some cherry at the bar (which was fully packed and we had to stand at the kitchen serving area) one of your staff spotted our discomfort and offered us a seat outside while our table was still being prepared. After about 15-20 minutes we checked up on our table and we were told it was being laid, this continued 3-4 times and eventually after an hour and 15 minutes we decided that we would rather leave. As we were leaving- bear in mind we had made our booking for 19:30 and it was nearing 21:00, we noticed that a table for 2 was actually being laid and decided to give it one last chance and find out if it was possible ours. Eventually we were seated- the rest of our experience was great. The wine was lovely and the food was great and our waiter we had was excellent. A pity we had to wait longer than an hour for a table we had booked because it really dampened what could have been an amazing evening.

Slow service but worth the wait. Best stake ever. Book in advance even though we offered a table without booking. A big plus.

Intimate restaurant with good decor. Seems to be always busy, therefore booking is advised. Menu has a good selection, meat obviously the main attraction. Good wine on offer. The tomato soup starter was lovely, the fillet good and green pepper source perfect. Hussar ice cream desert is unique, pity they ran out of the Chocolate Vodka Martini desert, which is a must to try when visiting.

Fantastic. Meat meat meat and more meat. I haven't seen such a large selection of steaks in years. In fact the selection would put many butchers to shame. The t-bone (600g) and large fillet (300g) were showstoppers. The sides made a brilliant meal even better. The staff were attentive and friendly. The bill was easy on the pocket and I would gladly pay more for such a good meal. The fat bastard wine brought a smile to my face in every way!!
