It was truly exceptional, apart from the photograph they take of you without explain what it actually is for. And they try to resell it to you at the end of your trip.
Other than that, the whole experience and time at the table mountain was wonderful, the staff is super enthusiastic and friendly in the cable cart and also at the restaurants there.
The day we went, there was actually a newlywed couple in the cable cart, on their way for a photoshoot. People sang for them, it was fun to see. So, the table mountain is also a great place for such shoots.
We did the sunset special where it is half price (R137) from 6pm to 8pm. It is AMAZING!! Highly recommend it, just make sure you take a jacket as it is freezing on top of the mountain and the wind is much stronger on top. The staff is also amazing. If you are going to do the special try to be there just after 5, as finding parking and standing in the queue took us an hour in total or better yet just book online.
This is definitely one of the best places I've ever been to! It's amazing to hike up from the Lower Cable Car Station to the top of the Table Mountain. It's a quite hard hike but it will give you a good sensation once on top and you'll be proud of yourself. There are many trails (each one has his own characteristics and difficulty) that go up to the mountain and you can choose the one you prefer. Once on top you'll see one of the best panorama on earth. One big suggestion: try to be there at sunset time! You'll be delighted by that.
This is as most people know the most famous mountain in South Africa and it attracts thousands of tourists ever day. But what makes this mountain super cool is that no matter how many times you go up, there is always something different to see.
As a local you can buy a membership card and this allows you one return trip every day. If you don't want to buy that but still want to go and see the sunset from the top, they offer a sunset ticket. This is from 6pm till 8pm and give you the amazing opportunity to just go and enjoy the most beautiful sunset.
Don't forget you camera!
Table Mountain is one of the main attractions of the beautiful Cape. In fact a visit to Cape Town without getting up here is not a visit. Where else can you get such spectacular views of the city? . It is a perfect spot for families, who can hike up or take a ride on the safe and ever reliable cable car (I'm afraid of heights, so I was very happy when I got to the top 🙈) , and enjoy a picnic or walk along the trails which lead to breathtaking views of the city. Couples can also have a great time here , table mountain is very romantic. A perfect place for a proposal. For great views, fresh air and relaxed atmosphere , do come to Table Mountain.
A must-see site of Cape town. The flat-topped mountain peak gives you an excellent view of the city and the coast on both all sides. Spend 1-2 hours here to enjoy the scene and a nice walk around the peak. It can get very crowded to go up here in the morning. I recommend you to skip your hotel breakfast and arrive here at the cable car office before 8:15am.
Beautiful, majestic, humbling experience. At least once or twice in a life time activity. Even if it’s just to watch the sunset or take in the views. Locals can opt for the Sunset tour which calculates to half the price of the fare. Keep in mind sunset tours are only available from 6 pm onwards but tickets can be purchased earlier I in the day
A must visit tourist attraction when in Cape Town. This iconic landmark offers some of the most majestic and stunning views of the city and the ocean. Extremely busy over holiday periods. The service and efficiency can be improved slightly. The cable way was a fun experience and great way to take in more of the beauty that surrounds you. At the top you are spoilt with the views and the trails set out can keep you busy for a few hours. Nice restaurant but very pricey. Well maintained and looked after which is great to see.
Great although I went when it was rainy and cloudy so the views weren't the best. However they were still amazing. I loved the whole cable car experience to the top of the mountain. Plus there's a cafe at the top which is great
You can literally witness the magnificent view of Cape Town from here. What you need to do is simply taking the cable car ride up. Keep in mind that not everyone is lucky enough to get to the top of this mountain as the only ride up won't be available if the wind is too strong. Despite that, you must not miss it. P.S. Jacket or sweater will be a good idea due to low-temp and strong wind.
Magnificent view. You have all:mountains, sun, ocean and lots of people. Place nicely organised. You can just take few photos and come back down or have some hiking and trail. In summary your visit on this mountain can take minutes or hours. If you like hiking, take good boots, water and comfy clothes.
If you decide to hike up the mountain, which I did, be prepared to be sore the next day! I am a very inexperienced hiker, so this took me around 3 hours, as I had to take numerous stops along the path. Bring a lot of water, as you'll need it! But this was an incredible hike. Once you get to the top, you'll feel so accomplished. Also, the hikers you'll encounter are from all around the world, and they all offer words of encouragement on the way up! The hike up is gorgeous, as you get very nice views. But once you get to the top, the view is STUNNING. Try to go on a clear day, so you can see the cape. If it's cloudy, chances are you'll be above the clouds, which is also a pretty cool experience
We went up late in the afternoon and stayed up the mountain till after dark. It was a good time as the scenery were spectacular both during daytime and at night. Definitely the highlight of the Cape Town visit.
A must see in Cape Town but nothing mind blowing. It is very picturesque. The cable car is quite unique in that it rotates as it rises and descends (not in a scary way). The views from the top are really nice on a clear day but the price for the ride can be a bit much. My recommendation would be to hike up the mountain (it's free) and then buy a one way ticket to ride the cable car down the mountain. The hike will take you about 2.5 hours of you have decent knees. Parking is free.
