Good family experience. Was there for Japan centenary celebration activities. Worth the drive. Set in beautiful surroundings near the mountains.

Great food. Stunning venue. Upmarket crowd. People of all ages. People charging for kuds to use a play area which was not that good or properly attended Whig kind of sucks big time. This should be offered free or done decently.
Very very crowded market - lots more space is actually needed. I saw tempers flaring in parking area. This market is clearly a goldmine for the organizers and probably the stallholders - food stalls extremely busy. Not cheap - R35 for an ice cream. Not a flea market or really a place to find bargains.response / report this review -

Went for the Japan festival. Very cool but insanely busy and narrow. Difficult to move through the crowds at points.

Nice market. It can get very hot at Stellenbosch so go early. One gripe; this hairpin which is about 4 inches long - on sale for R200!!! Rip off. That's a day's wages for a lot of people and clearly a price adjusted for tourists. So beware. Cape Town wasn't like this a few years ago but its rapidly becoming a tourist rip off.

Stellenbosch has a lot of markets selling food, drink, clothing and entertainment. This one does all that but the food and entertainment you would find better quality and price at Root 44 but they definitely have the best collection of local artists showcasing their work. Come here for the artists and not the food.
