Food is okay. Service is terrible. This place goes on location which is great amazing views but everything else terrible and over priced
I have family who lives in South Africa and so visit every few years or so. Quay Four has always been a preferred place to meet up and eat. The food choices are good and usually served exactly as requested. Sitting on the deck overlooking the harbour is thoroughly enjoyable, but you have to keep a close watch for the ever present Seagulls who will swoop in and steal anything they can!!
Perfect food and service. Fantastic for walk in groups but don't order pre-booked meals. Rather individual choices. It takes a bit longer but is worth the wait. I had prawns which was totally delicious. Good food does cost a little more. Perhaps not for a regular family meal. Can be quite pricey.
Food was badly prepared. Portions were small. Totally overpriced for the quality.
We tried the veg pasta which was awful, lacked seasoning, flavour and taste. Since when does cherry tomatoes and olives constitute for a "veg" pasta
The baby kingklip meal was tasteless!!! Side of roasted veg was hard.
I somehow feel that all the meals tasted the same.
We were a table of 6 and everyone was dis -satisfied.
Some salt and pepper should be added to your shopping list.
In conclusion i will never visit this restaurant again.
Sunset, seafood and some cocktails. Quay 4, set in the cosmopolitan V&A Waterfront, is a good enough place to spend the evening with friends. Although service is a bit slow, the live music and vibe make it worthwhile. The food is also both delicious and suitably priced.
Went yesterday for lunch after trip to Robben Island with my son and his girlfriend from the UK. Food was 4 star also the service but the WIFI was zero, hence 2 star. I asked what the problem was and got the answer it is congested over lunchtime. Was a bit surprised as the venue was 40% full. So asked someone else. Their answer was that it is working and was shown so on her phone. She then told me that as we had iPhones the phone’s security prevented connection. I suggest you get it sorted out to avoid loosing more customers.
We sat upstairs for lunch. We waited 50 min for our food, the place wasn’t even busy whatsoever. The staff was rude and almost unwilling to take the orders, as if it wasn't their job. (?!) Between the four of us we ended up ordering , sushi and the seafood platter, without black mussels as they had none available. Being literally on the ocean I was expecting nice fresh fish.Well when the food arrived it looked fairly presentable in a large hot pan - we both wanted our fish, calamari rings and tiny, tiny prawns grilled - the fish cake in place of the black mussels was pan fried. EVERYTHING tasted the same, like old oil, overcooked and barely edible fish was very fishy, calamari like rubber, prawns powdery like cooked from frozen, chips tasted like old oil and the fish cake just disgusting. Didn't finish. Needless to say the sushi wasn't fresh either. Nice place for views and a drink. For food you should go somewhere else.
Location is superb with fabulous views. The food we found to be very average and the service not great either. But it has a great atmosphere especially when they have live music. Fabulous place to just have a drink and chill out
amazing place for ocean basket. very big portions. fantastic service, they can memorize 5 person orders without the need to write down! the top it all, there's were 2 fantastic bands playing the night we went.
food portions enormous, eventhough taste wise , it's mediocre only
At waterfront this is the restaurant with best prices. We have been here twice in our trip to cape town, first time we went for dinner inside because it was too cold. Second time, we had lunch outside in ground floor, upstairs has a different menu.
The food is good, nothing fancy here. Great beers!
A gem on the WaterFront. This place is excellent as it's visited by locals and tourists. It's not too expensive and the food was delicious. They give generous portions of food too. Our waitress was wonderful. She was very kind and friendly. Later the band was playing and it was a blast hearing them! They added more to the experience. I'd definitely recommend this place for a enjoyable evening with friends and family.
Downstairs Tavern - Had the best evening! Hearty portion sizes with great taste! The R99 fish and chips as an amazing meal!
Absolutely beautiful views of the harbour, with boats and catamarans passing by every now and then. The live music played by the band Saber was fantastic and everyone in my group of 9 thoroughly enjoyed themselves. 10 out of 10, would go again.
Great place to come enjoy sea food. So fresh and delicious. You have the best view of the harbour and all the cruises around there. The service here is excellent. I was so happy with the level of the food freshness here. Not expensive too
Pretty restaurant, location is awesome. The food was decent in flavor, but my sisters food came out cold. I thought my food was pretty good until I found a Piece of plastic in my food. I can describe it as a plastic that the price tag of your clothes would be on. not really sure how that happened. They did take the food off of my bill on the bright side.
Quay Four is a real Gem, it's an awesome pub which often has live entertainment and provides indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is amazing as you get some good views of the harbour but can be silently unpleasant due to the hungry seagulls. The inside is also very nice and has no seagulls interruptions and you get a good view of the entertainment. The food is amazingly delicious, service is really fast and friendly. They also have lots of delicious craft beer for you to try.
I liked the inside area on this windy day. The buzz was enjoyable. Service was good. Had a mini seafood platter, very enjoyable. Hake was especially good. Can recommend the choc mouse desert (ideal for sharing), also the cheesecake was delectable. Cuppachino was not that great. Prices reasonable and can recommend this for a light lunch and cold draft.
The venue has two sections - upstairs and downstairs. The top is for Wining and Dining where as the bottom is a general restaurant. Went downstairs for an early dinner. The food arrived incredibly quickly and was delicious! Very very impressed by the food. The portion sizes were generous and the prices were very reasonable. The waiter was very helpful and friendly.
