Just a magical experience. The staff is beyond perfect, waiting on your every need. The expedition guides are different characters - the gruff, experienced bushman; the friendly naturalist; and the buoyant, jokester Xhosa native. Each one brings something different to the table, each one adds to your experience. They led us to hippos, giraffes, lions (with new cubs), and we say quietly while a herd of elephants enveloped us.
Truly one of a kind. This 1920s settler tented camp really takes you back in time. Set low in rolling valleys you have a true feeling of isolation, allowing the wonder of nature to take over. Wonderful boma dinners, set under the acacia Karoo, one the many trees found in this river valley thicket. Game drives are done on both Amakhala and Shamwari so you get a great feel for the biodiversity and terrain in the area. Highly recommend.
Spend our first night of honeymoon there. They surprised us with candles, chocolates and champagne in our tent. Food - awesome and the atmosphere very welcome feeling. The guides really went the extra mile to show us as much as possible
