Last weekend we camped for three nights at Mvubu Campsite in the Kabouga section of the Addo National Park near Kirkwood. Bookings should be made at the Addo Main Camp, but the entry point is near Kirkwood.

An excellent place to get away from it all - no cellphones, internet or TV - Just nature at its best.

There are 6 stands with a maximum of 4 people per stand. One hot water shower (paraffin-powered) and one flush toilet are available. Visitors must provide their own firewood. Water for washing is available but visitors should take their own drinking water.

Obviously we had some visitors - an unsuspecting warthog came wandering into the campsite and monkeys came to have a look whether we forgot any food outside whenever we turned our backs.

The baboons were always there in the background but kept their distance.

Lots of birdlife to keep us busy. We also saw Kudu, Red Hartebeest Mountain Reedbuck, Ostriches and my favorite, a Secretary Bird pair.
