I was in and out of this hospital last year due to complications in pregnancy. The maternity ward was dirty and we had to ask for it to be cleaned. The food was not good, as I am diabetic, but they had a problem in getting diabetic bread, despite being right next to Pavilion. In addition, when my baby was discharged, the nurse on duty Lisa, removed the peg from my 4 day old baby's navel, without asking or informing me. The hospital claims that it is normal procedure, but I have spoken to lots of women who had their babies at the Westville hospital, and the peg was not removed. The hospital has failed to provide names of mothers whose child's peg was removed and they say because I am the first one to complain. My child's navel was bleeding and air went into his navel. He was in a lot of pain. I had to take him to a pediatrician who had to give my two weeks old son, medication for pain.
In my personal opinion, and you may not agree, but I personally think this is a terrible hospital and the staff are not trained properly. My gran had to have a hip operation more than 6 times I think because the doctor kept making stupid mistakes, not only that, my grandfather had all the wrong medication in high care and the staff dont know what they are doing and they always never know whats going on and give wrong information to me. My grandfather fell out the bed there and broke his hip completely and had to tell the doctors to do more ex rays only to find more broken bones, useless staff. I had a shocking experience, and many of my family and friends had the same terrible terrible experience. I know a lot of stories about how the surgeons constantly make mistakes that ruin peoples lives and almost kill them, one even cut into a main artery in the neck which almost killed the patient, this doctor has a pony tail in his hair in case you see him. This is first hand experiences and I can back them all up. I will be having a meeting with my medical aid to deal with this place and its its lack of training and I will never go there, this is my personal opinion and I am shocked
Nursing and medical staff deserve 5 stars they are very friendly and helpful even with your minor problems in the wards. They made my stay there quite pleasant. On the other hand the admission and administrative departments are understaffed and extremely slow. I had to do my hospital admission with the medical aid myself, apparently "the people who normally do it aren't there"
The nurses at Westville hospital are amazing always checking up to see if you okie. Amazing service
If I were rating just the nursing staff that I dealt with when I was admitted I would’ve given a rating of 4 starts. Besides having to wait a long time to be seen to when I was admitted and waiting a very long while when I was done at radiology, the staff were really pleasant, helpful and went beyond to make my stay not too bad. The doctors however were a nightmare and don’t deserve any rating at all. They just didn’t care, they lacked empathy and I don’t even think they wanted or tried to give me a diagnosis. They did the bare minimum and that’s it. To make matters worse, I was prescribed totally wrong medication. Naturally, I got a second opinion and I got a diagnosis, when I looked up my diagnosis, turns out I had textbook symptoms, those stupid doctors should’ve been able to diagnose me and to proscribe me with medication that I told them I was once on and explained the outcome of it, was just sloppy. If it was just one doctor that I had this experience with I would say it’s a doctor problem but having the same experience with 3 doctors, I say it’s a hospital issue. It’s the hospitals duty to make sure the patients are treated in the most humane way possible, like they matter not just one more patient they get to charge for coming and walking past their bed.
Absolutely disgusting, an indictment on the medical profession and services in this country. The worst and most unprofessional hospital care I have ever experienced.
I am still admitted at the HOSPITAL. The nurses are friendly and very professional. The hospital is very clean but one PROBLEM
THE CATERING COMPANY. THIS ONE IS A BIG NO. BRING BACK THE OLD COMPANY, THE PORTION FOR FOOD IS LIKE THEY ARE DISHING FOR CRECHE KIDS TOO SMALL AND IF WE HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS. IT IS TERRIBLE.
People are sick and are on constant medication which need food first then medication. PLEASE THE MANAGEMENT OF THE HOSPITAL MUST DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS CATERING COMPANY.
I ve been here from 10am with a patient for threate at 13 00. We seated at the reception until 1300 no beds available for us while we were booked this date. Its been so sad to see other going in taken to the wards but only us who were keept at the reception for so long
This is our default hospital, used it many times over many years, generally only good experiences.
Just had a C- Section last week my newborn boy and I would love to say THANK YOU to EVERYBODY in the Maternity Ward From Nurses, Nursery staff to,catering Co.to the cleaners!
Everybody is clearly well trained and love what they're doing. Beautiful bedding that makes you feel at home and the serene Ward with only love, laughter and that calming scream from our newborns! Bless you ALL ♡
Emergency service was amazing .. quick treatment.. sister freni Govender the night sister did her best to Assist . She opened the high care ward brought in staff to take care of my son. Thank u westville hospital 😘
Had my baby here. The Maternity ward is good, the nurses are lovely. The menu was good, nice variety and tasted good. Not enough bathrooms for the number of patients though. Terrible cellphone reception, which is a problem when everyone is phoning and messaging you about your baby! I would recommend this hospital.
Good and bad experiences here
had great experiences, last visit was in 2010, keep up the good work!
if i could give them a lower rating I would do so, firstly they didnt give my dad his meds while he in pain for 2 days and when they finally did they they inserted it wrong and secondly a nurse is there to make you feel better and treat you with love and respect where the nurses where rude, uninformed about the basic questions about the patient it was as if they hated their jobs and blamed you for the reason they were there and thirdly they bathrooms and toilets was not up to exceptations and the tragic thing is that this has been our family hospital and so we can tell you that the quality of this hopital has dropped drastically
The worst emergency service I have ever had one docto5 to 5 patients they are over worked and we as patients get low or very little attention at all but when it comes time for the bill them up guys at westville hospital do the best job. Please if u have a emergency don't come here
Great experience, more of a hotel than hospital , the hospitality was awesome. The staff members from nurses, cleaners, doctors and all healthcare specialists were amazing, I had a great stay and keep it up.
