I bought 8 dragon rolls sushi and a plate of JD's Prawn galore 15 on Sunday 4 March 2018. While I was eating the dragon rolls I repeatedly found myself spitting out hard particles that turned out to be various pieces of hard clear and transparent plastic. What made my blood boil was the fact that I was sharing the meal with my five year old son. After deciding to eat the prawns instead, I loved how they tasted to be honest but once again, the rice was raw literally. I don't know if the people or person making this food is unhappy at their job but to sabotage our meal like that and feed us plastic is just too far. Will never purchase this restaurant's food ever again.

I would love to rate you 4stars or even 5. But you have a few short comings that can easily change. You are situated in a beautiful section in the mall and your setup is lovely. Your meals, however is not as good as it can be. And your service needs to be a little more 'effective'. I have given you a few visits and I feel you need to focus on restoring the quality of your name as John Dory's. I would love to recommend this branch to my family and friends as soon as this happens😇.

We were here on New Year's Day and our experience was really terrible. They were short of staff and it seemed like the Sushi guy and our waitress Mari were the only two people doing any work. My girlfriend even had to fetch her sushi at the sushi bar herself after waiting for more than an hour and I already finished my meal by then. It wasn't even busy. And wven though the other waiters saw my empty plate as they walked passed they didn't make the effort to clean up the table. Very nad experience.

Our first visit to a John Dorys.
On arrival, greeted by a friendly trainee who was helpful in finding us good seating.
Saw the hake special the night before in passing, noticed the special on Flyingfish as well.
This was it, right time and place.
Between two waiters, they could not decide which Flyingfish flavours were in stock. Ended up, only 1 Apple Flyingfish was available, no others at all. Very disappointed.
Reverted to cider in the end.
Was not long and a particularly large group of dinners were seated nearby with several very loud and outspoken ladies, we had to move otherwise we would not be able to hold a conversation.
We moved to a quieter area, fortunately sufficient seating was available.
Noticed a media play area for youngsters, did not see anyone there.
Ordered sushi for starters and the hake specials.
The sushi was particularly well made with a little bite to it, fantastic.
The hake and chip portions were fair and well grilled and fried (had both). No bones either.
Our waiter was a tad scarce, had to look for him to place another order of ciders.
Right at the end, the manager stopped over and asked how was our experience with John Dorys. He was apologetic, but that was all he could do.
    PS-the ciders were cold :-)

I was at John Dorys on Saturday @ 14:30 it was four of us .We were planing on a quick meal as we were hungry we were seated no problem there but it was as if we were invisible . After being seated for about 30 minutes without service we called the manager as he was passing by and asked to place a drink order. Our "supposed" waitron was passing up and down with no interest in us.

After 15 minutes of placing the order our drinks finally came and 1 beer glass for a cider which was ordered was dirty and the the cocktail which my friend had ordered wasnt with the order so she reminded the waitron about it and was told that they dont have it after waiting 45 min for drinks.so she had to order something else.

So we decided to order our meals but 1 friend wasnt going to eat due to lose of apettite .she ordered a Amarula Dompedro. The food took 45 mins to get to us . Not to mention not getting service at all. The waitron didnt even introduce herself to us we even had to ask her for her name. Not even once did she ask how we were doing or if we need anything. I mean the place was hardly full but I wouldnt recommend the place to
    anyone.

Poor poor service and everything takes very long before getting to you. Imagine if you brought children along?!

    Bad service!!!..

If I could do half a star I would. Best part of my experience today was my wine. Had meerkat burrow merlot, nice wine. Food sucks, service even worse. After being in the restaurant for a few minutes we decide we're not eat the food based on what was being served to other patrons. Ended up eating the worst sushi ever. No presentation and the waitress didn't care to write our order down. We order 2 platters only one came. When we asked for the second, she took sushi off the belt to make our platter which was in any case not what we ordered. Let's rewind back to drinks. The mojito lol!!!! Lemonade with some mint leaves would have been a better menu description for their version of the drink. Attached is a pic of the kiddies pizza. My kid loves any kind of pizza but refused to eat more than 2 slices here, so tried a piece. Bad bad bad!!!! Won't visit here again. No one was friendly and the manager was not visible once during our hour long visit!

    Worst Experience ever

So me and my girlfriend were craving seafood and as such, decided to head down to john dorys.
It was rather late in the evening 19:40, so the place was fairly empty. I expected that this meant the service would be quick and efficient. I was wrong
we decided to order a mussel pot, their new prawn soup and a platter.
one would think that with an empty restaurant, food would not take 10 years to arrive but it did. Not only that but when the food eventually did arrive, it was cold! we were also told that they had run out of roles.
which in turn had me eating my soup with normal slices of bread! like I'm talking blue ribbon bread.
BUT THAT"S NOT EVEN THE WORST PART, how can you serve prawn soup, with just one prawn in it not only that, but when i asked for a soup spoon, our waiter told me that they don't have spoons. only teaspoons so yes I had to eat my soup with a teaspoon and bread
munch on my lovely cold seafood platter and eat my mussels with sauce that tasted like It was warmed in the microwave.
I decided not to voice my concern, as it was a long day and frankly I just wanted to get done and get out of there.
Everyone has an off day, but this place just failed miserably. shall not come back. ever.

P.S. did I mention after the waiter gave us our food, she came back 5 minutes later and wanted to take the mussel pot away. didn't even ask, just proceeded to take it. as a result we had to tell her no we still busy.
how can I finish a mussel pot in 5 Minutes? geez man. at least train your waiters properly. if I could give half a star I would.
I finally realize why it was so empty

After a couple of visits, things did not look good. After a couple of complaints little seemed to be done. Then we where force to choose John Dorys due to the great kids play pen and other restaurants where growded. Bonus of play pen is the entrance is at back and only one way in and out, so parents can keep eye ons their kids. So I decide on good rating as the manager on duty recognised us and thanked us for giving them another chance. The service this time around was great. Food was good and we where treated with a dessert. Good job on making up for previous slip ups. We will be back. Please just ensure you get decaf, please!

The manager just did not bother.
    Low quality and tasteless food.

After a less than favourable experience, I was contacted by the owner of the outlet and invited back to give them another chance. The latest visit was arranged through the owner with our table being reserved and everyone on duty as we expect them to be. Overall it was a much better experience and the food and service were both top class. No faults this time around and we will now gladly frequent the establishment in future as they've shown what is possible. After the meal was done and paid for by myself, I thanked the owner for putting in the effort to correct the mistakes of a staff member in the past. Well done and thanks for doing the right thing.

    Very disappointed.
After oil from the kitchen splashed on us from the kitchen the manager promised the owner will call me because there was oil marks on my wife's shirt but no calls it's week no 3 now. You will never see me again.
