I am actually shocked and dumbfounded as to how this pathetic establishment has an average rating of 4.2/5. The venue is old, out dated, dull and needs a complete revamp. There is holes in the roof and it's just a rather shabby looking place. Apparently, from asking around, El Arish can host 3 to 4 functions concurrently. The reason as to why I asked is because I was the MC for an engagement party and required a podium to place my programme and Mic. They only have one podium and it is shared between 4 rooms. I mean seriously, you have 4 function rooms but you have ONE podium? The food is tasteless, and bland. The waiters are dressed so shabberly and they think they doing you a favour. The girl behind the bar has no customer service whatsoever. When starters was served, side plates were not to be seen on the table. The aircon was not on when we arrived at the venue. It is typical restuarant/hotel that cuts corners. Please do not waste your time booking at this place. The only reason why it has such a good rating is because most people who have been here, haven't been exposed to Hotels such as Hilton, Elangeni etc.

We visited with a group of 7 people and enjoyed the space, but when it came to the food, 6 plates were served and the 7th had an extra 20min wait. It took multiple trips to the kitchen to ask where the 7th plate was before it was served. This may have been an exception to the rule, but the service at Spur for example is seemingly superior to this single experience. I'll update my review after another visit.

My sister and I hosted our parents 40th Wedding Anniversary here. Everything was perfect; food was great, decor was stylish and the attention to our needs was high. Exceeded expectations. Highly recommended for events.

Wonderful Prawn curry . Probably as good as the old Sea bell of the old days. I will go back to try the button curry soon. Recommend you give it a try

Never in all my years of traveling, have I seen such a disgrace of a hotel.. Staff were untidy, shirts untucked and walking as if they thought they were gangsters or something.. Absolutely zero hospitality etiquette. When I eventually got to my room, I found an unmade bed, a full dustbin, a dirty coffee cup next to the bed, a dirty tea spoon, no clean towels, and an unflushed toilet.. I was disgusted.. I wanted to call reception but they didn't even have a telephone in the room.. Sies man.

Sub standard food considering the large and imposing building. It's really an undated menu and food that cuts corners. The vibe of a restaurant that is run by a person who doesn't understand food.
