Great place. Rooms were massive. The 6 sleepers actually had beds for 6 people unlike other places that have a sleeper couch. The place was clean. Decent size kitchen that was well equipped. Very big lounge area and a big balcony with a great see facing view. The braai stand was conveniently located on the balcony but the light wasn't working. Only other issue is that there is only one shower in the suite room and there is no bathroom door. The other bathroom has a bath only.

The positives are the location and nice swimming area as well as big bedrooms. The negagives are the parking spaces are very small and only one space per unit. They onlu replace towels every second day which is awful since things dont really dry at the beach. Also no air conditioning in the unit we stayed in.

We have been going to Perna for about 20 years now. It use to be great, the one holiday we all just could not wait for. Sadly this is no longer the case as things are slowly going backwards and nobody seems to care. Check-in time only being from 15:00 is really pathetic considering the previous visitors had to check-out by 09:30 already. Surely the units can be cleaned quicker? Guests travel early to avoid traffic and driving in the heat. This is a pointless exercise though as arriving early results in you having to sit outside Perna in the car anyway with no street parking to cater for all the vehicles, especially those with trailers attached. Being able to atleast park the trailer inside Perna's parking until check-in helps, but depends on who is on duty. As the units sleep 6 people, it's pretty obvious 6 people do not fit in one car. Not everyone can afford to arrange a bus or similar for the trip. Don't dare ask reception for additional parking if you arrive in two cars though as you will simply be told "NO!!!!, WE ARE FULLY BOOKED ALL WEEK!" Yet for the duration of the stay, there were only 3 trailers parked in the 6 allocated trailer parkings and several unit parkings remained empty. Try park in one of these parkings and your wheels get clamped with a R500 release fee. The pool between Perna 1 & 2 is green, the pool at Perna 4 is full of beach sand. The staff in the mornings are simply on a easter egg hunt to find cigarette butts in the non-smoking units, as the entire Perna property is non-smoking, yet the caretaker below pops up their umbrella to hide and smoke underneath. The units are not maintained, for years we complete the Exit checklist listing all the broken items and complaints yet nothing changes. The one lamp in the unit was broken some time ago, to date it still hasn't been replaced. The table in the one room was missing so the lamp was simply placed on a chair. Surely you can borrow some furniture from the other units which are not booked for the week if you not going to replace/repair? Aircons in the units would be appreciated. When looking at Dolphin View Cabanas next door, the upgrades & maintenance is clearly visible each year. Their braai area, pool and amenities look inviting, even the kids have their own entertainment rooms. Sadly other than the beach view and Bush Pub being in walking distance, not much more going for Perna.

Nice apartment - comfortable. Ideal location right on the beach.
No help with luggage on arrival. No smoking on premises but barbeque allowed on the balcony. This is just plain stupid.

Do not bother going here at all.
My family & I stayed here for my brothers wedding weekend.
The manager switched our lights off at 9pm because we were talking on our balcony.
There was a group of young people staying above us who were left to smoke, drink, break bottles & play loud music, while we were given a warning for talking.
If you want to smoke you have to leave the premises & go across the road.
Staff in general unfriendly & unhelpful.

    Worst weekend ever.

One of four such Time Share Resorts. As most KZN resorts they have monkey problems but cater for it as far as windows are concerned but leaving the sliding doo open on the patio (even the 5th floor)could lead to a raid. Fresh new linen on the beds, curtains, towels etc and all the normal time share necessities. A stainless steel braai on the patio if needed. Most units have a sea view, it is right on the main bathing beach if you can handle the typical backwash. It would appear from all the security measures (above average)that are issues.

Lovely resort. Beach is directly across the road with lifeguards watching. Only problem I had with the resort was the moisture. Windows had to be always be open and fans had to be on always.

Management needs to come up with a better solution to the shortage of parking, I don't want to pay an extra R120 to park at the airport. Flats are lovely and always clean. Better upkeep of games, new pool cues need to be bought and table needs to be upgraded as the balls get stuck. Swimming pool and area is beautiful and clean.

Location location location. This place is in the perfect location within walking distance of restaurants, shops and beach. View is awesome and main beach, 10 min walk away is great with the tidal pool. Accommodation is slightly rundown.

Very cold receptionists and we had a shocking cleaning lady with a terrible attitude. There are also far too many rules and the apartments look like they were last furnished in 1995.
The general manager was very nice and friendly as well as some of the staff we interacted with, but the staff with bad attitudes had a negative impact on our experience

Umdloti beach is where we go to to relax, unwind and rest! Perna Perna is lovely, clean, comfortable and stylish. It is just across from the beach and we LOVE it! We have been going there for 24 years and look forward to the next 24 years. Keep it up.

Right across the beach. Well designed complex. Our unit can do with an upgrade as we were charged a high rate for the week we staying here.
