The staff of Bakgatla is very friendly and helpfull. During our visit it was raining and it made cleaning the ablutions very difficult, due to the red ground, but it was done with great effort. I will visit this camp again.
All round Resort needs refurbishment. Stay away from the Restaurant, never eaten such bad food. Swimming Pool is dodgy. Shop limited. It's a great setting & would be fantastic. The road from resort to Bagatla Park Gate terrible.
This is a nice resort. There were however a few issues. We arrived here in the first week of January and we could really see that the resort took a hard nock during the holidays. The Swimming pool was green, full of algae. The toilets was extremely dirty. The showers were in a horrible condition. The shop had nothing but a few packs of ice. This really made our stay a bit terrible. But I can really see that this resort can be an awesome place on any other time of the year.
We stayed in a chalet. It was comfortable, with a great built in braai. We've stayed in the permanent tents before and they were also good, but the chalets are better if you have kids.
Great camping site for those that spend most of their time in the Nature Reserve. Otherwise, the campsite does not have much to offer. It is a three star rated resort, and it probably deserves that, but their swimming pool is dirty and full of algea. The ablution blocks are dirty and was not functional, so that was a terrible downside. Although playing music loudly is strictly banned, there was loud music throughout the night when we were there.
A really nice resort. It's not the best I have ever been to but it is fun and the pool was great with the kids. I have been there a few times and will definitely go again. Close enough from Gauteng to make it back home on one tank.
We went camping there over the weekend. Good camping spot if you want to visit the Pilanesberg Nature Reserve. Staff friendly and helpfull. Facilities good and clean. Only concern is that maintenance does not get done on the facilities. Remember your ground cover canvas as majority of stands have no grass and shade stands also limited.
Best place in Pilanesberg for camping. It does have a restaurant, which does serve good value for money meals. The shop is a little small, but you can at least buy wood and ice.
We stayed in one of the chalets. It was wonderful. 5 can stay there comfortably. Bathroom was in great shape with a good shower and hot water. The restaurant was pretty good as well with excellent staff. The only thing I would change is to add wifi so I can upload all my amazing photos.
Stayed in unit 45 which along with 46 appear to be the best located units in the camp as they are right on the fence into the park. Basic accomodation but ideal for a self drive game reserve experience. You can self cater or use the restaurant facilities. The great thing is there is a new shopping centre just 6min away so everything you need can be bought there. Highly recommended.
Affordable accommodation by Pilanesberg national park. Camping site or self catering chalets with breakfast included.
Older, slightly run down campsite and caravan park. Disappointing shower areas in the non-electrified camp area which offer no privacy.
Also quite noisy with late night campers and early morning game departures.
Nice place, grounds need some maintenance. Pool was clean and blue.
We had a wonderful weekend at Bakgatla. the pool is huge and fantastic and the little shop sells all that you need and is open until late.
Loved to stay there. I went on a Safari too around pilanesberg. It was great. The hotel has a buffet for meals and it's very good. The place were I stayed was like a little bungalow with a living room. It was a place for 4. At night you are advised to stay in since animals wander around and it could be dangerous. It made it all that more interesting. I'd return anytime.
