The atmosphere was fun and the food was very alright. Appetizers were amazing (especially the sweet potato fries), but the main dish (I got the skirt steak) was not mind-blowing. One of our steaks was not done to specification, which when you're paying $25 and upwards for, matters, I suppose. Absolutely love the salt and pepper shakers, though. I'd go back to see the salt and pepper shakers.

First time to Zingerman's with my family & my sister's family. It was a massive family Sunday brunch & we all loved the experience. Very friendly staff that made sure we were all happy & having a great time. The food was awesome too. We all loved our meals & the kids loved the Mac & Cheese. We had an amazing experience & we'll be back for sure next time we're in Ann Arbor

Food was great. No complaints. Steak and pork were especially delicious, as was mac and cheese. Service was excellent and waiter, Phillipe, was particularly pleasant and answered any questions about the menu and food preparation.

Zingermans is an incredible company. Every business they open is exceptional. The Zingerman's Roadhouse is no different. Chef Alex, a multiple times James Beard Award winner, runs not only the kitchen but a farm the supplies much of the restaurants seasonal produce. Even some of the meat is raised on the farm. The Roadhouse serves exceptional American fare. Some of the dishes may be less known nowadays but have deep cultural roots and everything is exquisitely prepared. Zingerman's prides itself on using the best they can get from wherever they need to go to get it. The restaurant hosts numerous event dinners through the year, each with different themes and menus. They are well worth the price. The restaurant is often busy but it is worth the wait.

Service is great and food tastes good. It does seem overpriced, however. I understand that the company sources its meat locally and they are ethically raised. Even with that considered, $17 for a mound of mashed potatoes and greens and a very small amount of pork seems to be too much. Food quality is great but just seems too pricey for a normal lunch.

I normally LOVE to eat here! Waitstaff is always superior and food is usually excellent. The reason for 4 stars and not 5 is because this last visit the fiod wasn't up to normal standards, and, a friend who drove up from Toledo to meet for lunch had a really greasy fried chicken salad. I mean pools of grease on the lettuce. Again, our server was fantastic!

WOW! My friend and I went to celebrate with a birthday breakfast. The experience could not have been nicer! Mandy, our waitress was friendly and amazing! She brought us some special treats "on the house" AND was happy to accommodate our special variations on the menu to provide us with a lower carb breakfast. Wonderful service!!!!

We liked about half of what we tried. Unfortunately, we don't care for smoky-flavored foods. We enjoyed the bread and our appetizers, but our meals were suffused with wood smoke. The waitress was incredibly helpful and courteous, even going so far as to give us a free appetizer so we wouldn't go home hungry. The manager gave us a free meal coupon and set us up with a reservation for the next day, which we couldn't actually make, but it was still above and beyond for today's service industry. We will make our way back to try their other entrees.

Zingermans is my favorite place to eat! I have traveled the country for work the last 15 years and the food and service here are incredible. I was able to meet the owner last time and Ari was so gracious to take photos with me and my co-workers. Alex was an incredible server. Food is so so good. I wish they had a location in Phoenix, but it gives me something to look forward to any time I travel within 100 miles of Detroit.

It's a pretty penny to eat here. I wouldn't say it's always worth it, either. The biscuits and gravy are delicious but they never make enough and run out by noon during weekend brunches. I understand the demand, but if your brunch goes until 2 or 3 then you absolutely need to make sure you make enough biscuits to have on hand. I have found that the service isn't as good as it used to be. The ribs are phenomenal and I will return for specific items on the menu!

Fantastic! The unique types of macaroni and cheese served here are enough to bring me back.
The crab cakes were the best I have ever had in a land locked state. Albeit they were a little small, but they made up for their lack of size with their quality. The house-made tartar sauce was thoroughly delicious as well!
Our server was prompt and polite.
I will DEFINITELY be back!

Looking beyond the AA local exclusivity hipster attitude,the place is way too pricey for what they offer. I can appreciate fresh and local, in fact, I even indulge at Whole Foods from time to time

However, I think people place too much in "the name" and hype. You get a lot of food and the bread is awesome, but they could use a few more vegetarian options. Also, beware of the napalm atop of the veggie burger. I don't eat meat, but have dined several times with friends that are always regretful with what they spend on steak/burger/ or fish for what they could get elsewhere. If you are a fan of sweet potato fries, they have the best EVER!

It is crowded, LOUD, and you will be waiting if you don't make reservations on the weekend. The pick up window, however, is an awesome perk,the staff is always efficient and organized.

You can't go wrong by choosing Zingerman's! They have established themselves as a great Ann Arbor brand by excelling with awesome food and customer service. It is a little on the pricey side for American food but they choose fantastic, fresh ingredients from primarily small producers. There are always new things for me to try with their menu that is updated daily. It is one of my favorite places to go to for mac 'n' cheese and I always leave there happy and full of great food.

Excellent food and service, nice atmosphere.

I went to Zingerman's Roadhouse for the first time after hearing so much about it and it exceeded all of my expectations. I went there with my brother and we shared an appetizer of fried cheese curds and I got the fish and chips for my main meal.

Everything I tasted was fresh, delicious, and well made; it was obvious a lot of care went into the preparation and the selection of ingredients. I should also say the bread basket they gave us was some of the best bread I've ever had. It was just a few pieces of sourdough and whole wheat, but it genuinely impressed me. I've never gotten that from eating a piece of bread before.

I will say it was expensive sort of. You can get similar dishes in larger quantities at other restaurants for cheaper - but this level of quality isn't there. The thing I love about Zingerman's is they focus on quality over quantity. Don't get me wrong, they definitely give you enough food. The serving sizes are substantial, as you can see in my picture, but the focus is definitely on the quality. My fish and chips was $26, and though skeptical at first, I can definitely say it's worth every penny.

I'd strongly recommend trying Zingerman's if you haven't already.
