The concept is great.
The jeeps are very well equipped.
The only thing is that “free camping” is not possible in Maui. You have to book every camping in advance .

Zazu Campers thinks of everything! The Jeep had everything we needed for a wonderful weekend on Maui. Tim and Spencer answered all of our questions extremely promptly and made certain that we were prepared for our trip. I would definitely recommend Zazu to anyone looking for a fun, easy, and unique way to explore the island!

Zazu campers made our time in Maui an even more incredible experience! They provide just about everything you’ll possibly need with your rental. They made the booking, pick-up, and drop-off extremely convenient and worry-free. They provide you with a excellent full set of recommendations for campgrounds and activities to explore while on the island. I have no regrets using Zazu and would absolutely highly recommend you use them too!

Do yourself a favour, stop researching and just book with these guys! This is my second time coming to Maui and renting a vehicle/camper and Zazu made it so simple and smooth. A lot of campsites were full by the time we booked, but Spencer helped us out and recommended a site that had space for us. I had tons of questions and he was so speedy getting back to me. Cannot thank Zazu enough for making our adventure along the Road to Hana so memorable!

If adventure, value and ease are what you're seeking, look no further. We had an AMAZING time exploring Maui with the Jeep Wrangler + Tepui tent on top. The team was great to communicate with and were quick to address any hiccups that we ran into. It's rare that you have direct contact with a car rental company who is invested in making sure your trip runs smoothly.
The airport pick-up and drop-off was super convenient. No hassle of completing paperwork, just load your bags in the vehicle and drive away! You really make the most of your time this way (we managed to watch the sunset and fit in a swim before catching our evening flight).
The Jeep has everything you could possibly need to be self-sufficient -- cooler with thick walls, snorkel gear (we used almost daily), beach chairs/towels, hammocks, foldable table, propane stove & cooking supplies, plates/cutlery, sharp knives (great for cutting the local pineapple), external battery jumper which doubles as a battery pack, lantern & headlamps etc. They definitely thought of what you needed! We stock up on gas and goods at Costco.
We were set for beach days and for the roads less traveled. The Jeep's 4×4 came in handy and driving it was a breeze. Highly recommend signing up for the daily snorkel report and road to Hana (download the Shaka guide app). Our favorite treats were dole whip, banana bread from Julia's stand (West Maui) and key lime pie from Leoda's!!
