Camping here for my first time was mainly to be with my family that I don't often see. It was fun and definitely geared towards the children. I personally thought the cost was too high and won't be returning. In the summer you have the pool and the creek, but in October that isn't offered, for a good reason. The cost of the rental for the golf carts shocked me. A little too rich for my blood. The kids had a lot of fun. Perhaps you should offer some discounts, AARP, seniors, etc.?

The area is nice. If you're tent camping, the bathroom/shower facilities are nice. Each one has a door with a deadbolt and behind that door is a toilet, sink, and shower. Basically you have your own little bathroom. The RV sites are a good size, and the ones that we stayed at in the upper campground have a road between them so we didn't even have to back in. You can just pull into the site from the back and unhook from there. There were a few play areas that kept my 5 year old and 2 year old busy. The map of the campground could use some serious updating. The family that just took over the campground is really nice. They were cheerful and made me feel very comfortable when checking in.

I would have given a 5 (it really is a fun place with fun kid activities)- however, our loft (this happened last year too) was full of crumbs from I guess the prior guests kids eating chips or something-- and I'm not talking about a few, but full of crumbs-- and so we had to spend the first hour trying to figure out how to clean it without a vacuum (kind of gross- tried to sweep, but very hard on carpet) --and the only reason I am posting this review is so that the staff starts going up into the lofts (that is where kids love to sleep & play) to check for cleanliness (not just the downstairs). Again, besides that, it is fun at Halloween to be there for the activities-- and pretty coloring.

The activities/character appearances lasted a very short time. If you showed up 10-15 minutes late, it was already over. Some lasted a bit longer, but on average they were done rather quickly. There was a very strong sewage smell when we were over playing putt-putt as well as a huge amount of bugs/gnats, which many folks were complaining about - not sure if the two are related, but maybe get that area treated somehow. The arcade needs a little work as there were never any attendants and the money/token machines were never working. The property was nice and the kids really enjoyed themselves otherwise. The pool area was great and the slides were enjoyed by all - young and old. There is also a great deal to do in the surrounding area. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

First ,let me say, the employees are great, not one issue with them. But the place is so dated it's a shame. Cabin was really in bad condition. ( BoBO cabin) Door had large opening in side, beds were like sleeping on sand bags. You could see outside on a few places in the walls. No screen door . Shower is the right size for little people.
Lake was green and brown , fishing pond full of algae, kids water park outdated and in poor condition ( our son slipped and fell a few times just walking. Game room , half the games were not working, but did take the money. The pool was OK and offered a little relief. And yes the James river is beautiful, but a small beach would have been nice. Overall , don't waste your money. Again , employees are working with an outdated facility ,but they are a pleasure.

We were very disappointed with our recent trip here. When we first arrived we were given a smaller cabin than I had booked and paid for. The lady at the front was very nice one apologizing and accommodating us to a larger cabin. When she had called the cleaning service the lady had said that our new cabin had just been cleaned. However as soon as we walked into the cabin we smelled propane. We called maintenance and he discovered the pilot light was out in the oven and it was leaking propane. He smelled it as soon as he walked in so we weren't sure how the cleaning lady missed that smell. Once we got further into the cabin the shower was filled with hair, the toilet had pee and hair on it, there was crumbs on the futon, and hair all over the bedroom floor. We realize it's camping and it's not going to be the cleanest but the bathroom should have been cleaner. The employees were very nice which is why we continued our stay instead of leaving so that's what helped us.

Had a great time! Loved that there was always something to do. Only problem was that I feel like some of the places could've been open a little later.

Well we just left Jelly Stone. Staff for the most part was very helpful. Lots of things for children to do. They loved it!!! Campsites are either in a Feild or in a wooded area. I liked the wooded area for the shade. Roads are slightly rutted due to spring rains but passable by cars and trucks. My only complaint was the upper campground Showers. The center showers on both the North and South sides were blocked and when you are showering the water is up above your ankles. Gross!!! I reported it for two days to four different staff members, and little or no attention was given it!!! For this reason I only give it a three star rating.

Loved this resort! The views are amazing and although the park was filled with campers over Memorial Day weekend, it still was quiet and serene. The pool and swimming pond were fantastic and there was plenty of room for us to walk our dogs any time of day.

Good experience. There was a mixup with the room situation - they had us in the 1 room cabins, when we booked the 2 room ones. However, they were fix the situation and get us into a better cabin. It was a little too cold and rainy to get much use of the water activities, but we had fun at candy bar bingo and a special mother's day social. The location is great - we had a blast at nearby attractions like the Natural Bridge and Caverns and the Safari Park was amazing! There was plenty of friendly staff at the campsite and we hope to visit again.
