They don't deserve 1 star. Came in with chest pains and they asked me to leave but didn't check anything. Apparently I have very high inflammation but they didn't bother to do anything.

Labor and delivery is super excited big time they are friendly but the hospital can be rude when they don't want to bother with you at times they could be nice and friendly if they ain't in a bad mood

If I could give it a zero I would. This place sucks. No matter what day it is we have to wait hours to go into the back and even more hours when we get back there. Today we went in at 11 o'clock at night because my daughter has lots of bumps and red marks on her body we don't know what it is. It's now 5 in the morning and we still have not been back and my daughter is getting worse. This place is ridiculous worst hospital I've ever been to. They keep saying they are getting a room cleared for us and a hour later we go back up and they say the same crap. This is the WORST hospital! Now I know why we only go to Winston Salem for everything!

I was so sick I had to call an ambulance and this is something I've not done in 49 years of living. I could not stand up. They put me in a bed and a young lady came to my door and asked me to go to the bathroom to give them a specimen. I told her I couldn't even stand up and I had IVs hooked up to me, anyway. She paused, said nothing for a while, then, "oh" and walked off. Some time later and I was told it was about 30 minutes later she came back and asked if I had provided a specimen. An acquaintance had come down to take me home because of the ambulance ride, and she said they hadn't even provided anything for me to put a specimen in. When time came to go, I did feel somewhat better but was still bedridden sick (and remained so for a week) I told them I couldn't walk to the car and the person who had come to get me was a small woman in her 60s, and the ER GRUDGINGLY provided me with wheelchair assistance to her car. Horrible service.

Went in feeling dizzy, fatigued and faint I suggested the flu, they stated they checked and I was just dehydrated. After 5-hours my symptoms returned and I went to Urgent Care where I was told I had Influenza, yet the hospital informed me it was dehydration. These people don't care, if you come in without insurance and can't pay it's like they don't care about you! Urgent Care is 100x more caring and considerate than this dump! I hope Wake Forest is proud of the group of lames it took on!!!

Arrived at Wilkes ER 8/23/16 with my girlfriend after waiting 2.5 to 3 hours at another regional hospital before even getting triaged. After being told it'd be another 6 hours or so before she'd actually see a gynecologist (at this other regional hospital), we left. I was ready to drive her to High Point from Boone (about 100 miles) to at least get her seen at the facility where her personal gynecologist has privileges. We took a chance on Wilkes Regional. It took a total of 9 minutes to get triaged by their ER. The care was amazing from triage all the way thru to discharge. My girlfriend had a surgical abdomen/pelvis, and was seen that nite (actually around 2 or 3AM on the 24th) by the gynecologist on call (Dr. Redding) and a plan was formulated that was very thoroughly explained and made complete sense. Both Drs. Redding and Polidoro were excellent, as was the entire OR staff (the ER as well). I cannot recall the name of the ER doctor, but he was patient and extremely thorough. The Wilkes experience was really an antidote for the experience at the other regional hospital (which shall remain nameless). I am a physician in western NC. I send as much work as possible to Wilkes Regional (if it makes logistic sense for my patients to go there). I cannot recommend this facility highly enough.

This is a fabulous small hospital with superb staff, knowledgeable physicians. The ED is state of the art and scrupulously clean and well run. The staff all appear to be enjoying their jobs and do a great job of working together to help one another.

We were visiting the area from FL to see my husband's grandmother as we do at least once a year. My 17-year-old son Dalton (who knows better) decided to skate down her 'hill' (we have mostly flat lands in FL) on his carve board (a wider version of a skateboard), He did not 'carve' though and went straight - and you can image what happened - the wobble of death. It was 8:45pm and Wilkes ER was open later than the other after hours emergency care facilities. Our nurses Camary, Misty and Meredith were amazing. They were empathetic to his injuries (20+ bandages, 2 pain shots, lots of numbing shots in the elbow, 1 x-ray, lots of scrubbing of the wounds to clean them, stitches in the elbow, and a total of 6% of his body covered in road rash), patient, caring and friendly. Dr. Bennett was equally amazing. He explained everything in detail and our various options when it came to tests and treatments and related well to my teenage son's sense of humor. A big 5 star review from me!
