I recently visited Whitecap for the first time, and I was impressed! Yeah, it isn’t the most flashy place, but there was a comfy bed to sleep in after a long day, and honestly the skiing was wonderful. There was a large variety of difficulties to allow me to challenge myself on some runs, but the more experienced people with me were able to go out and have fun, and challenge themselves as well! The staff was so friendly and kind! I loved getting to talk with all the lift operators and hang out in the wine hut. In the evenings, we were able to meet tons of different people from all over when we were relaxing in the hot tub. I had a great experience and would definitely go back! (Also it was -15° and I had a severely sprained ankle but here is a picture of me looking goofy at Whitecap)

This is a really great ski location in the northern WI/UP area. It's not crowded, has great runs, has multiple mountain's to ski, and crazy high chair lifts. While the website seems like the place is closed down it's not. Go here for fun skiing!

Great terrain but only 2 lifts were running. State shutdown unsafe lifts. Was told 22/43 runs available with snowmobiles taking skiers to lifts. No snowmobiles ran! Only 8 runs available! Full price charged. Was told WC was sold. Hopefully new ownership will make this place great again! Needs major overhaul. Best skiing when lifts are operating.

Best skiing in the area! Many more runs than Indian Head, Powder Horn and Black Jack. And the runs are longer. Several nice places to stay right on the hill. Can ski right out onto the hills. No need to drive anywhere. We've been coming here for 30 years and live it! Great place to teach young ones to ski. There are many easy runs so kids don't need to be stuck on the bunny hill.

The hill itself is probably the biggest I've been to in the northern mid-west part of the states. Spent a couple of days there and even with one of the lifts not running, I had plenty of runs to keep me interested. There are three hills: the one closest to the chalet seems to be easier, and the other two are weighted more heavily towards the black diamond runs. They have one terrain park run, which just has some rails and whatnot, no jumps or anything. I'm not into that anyway, but if you are you'll probably be disappointed.
Rates are reasonable, with multi-day and family rates that make those extra days or extra people cheaper.

The chalet is dated and laid out strangely. But it's clean and well-maintained, so I can't complain.

There are several lodging options that I noticed: There's hotel-style lodging, owned and operated by Whitecap, I believe. It has a pool and hot tub. Then there's a bunch of cabins of varying sizes, some of which are ski-in, ski-out, and some of which aren't. They seem to be owned and operated by a, or maybe multiple, third parties. I stayed in one of these, but was with a group and didn't make the arrangements myself, so I'm not sure on the details.

    Overall, very positive experience!

I have been to Whitecap many times and I have to say that this hill is my absolute favorite. Now you may not get the very best food or the very best sitting area inside but that shouldn't be the deciding factor. The hill is great and Whitecap has a great variety of run types. You get that cozy at home feeling as you get to know all of the staff and sleep inside the old cabins. I have skiied all over the Midwest and again I must say this is the best ski resort you can go to for your money.

    Beautiful Northwoods Ski Resort.
Has everything you could imagine a resort would- golf, lake, pool, etc.
Great little lake (Weber Lake) for catching trout and bass but has no wake.
Ridiculously gorgeous views of the mountains and woods.
But, very dated and sort of rundown.
Extremely secluded and has no cell service.

Great place to stay. Went during the spring and pretty much had the whole place to ourselves. Staff was incredibly helpful. The chalet was perfect and affordable. The location was awesome, plenty of things to do if you enjoy hiking and waterfalls. Can't wait to go back next year.

Quiet place! Rooms are a little outdated but the skiing was great. Never had to wait for the chairlift. Amenities were acceptable. We spent a lot of time in the hot tub! We'll be back!

Zero ski patrol on the mountain and only one lift operator at the top of the mountain trying to watch three lifts. I thought this bordered on negligence. I did not feel safe skiing here with my family.
