They changed the name to Upscale Nail Care probably so people wouldn’t see these reviews. Wish I’d known. I’ll cooy my review here as well.

Came here due to a sign that boasted their great prices. Unfortunately you get what you pay for. I came and was seated fairly quickly but not quick enough they definielyndidnt have enough employees. The man (who may also be the owner or something??) asked what I wanted and I showed him, then he wraps my nails in foil to soak off the leaves. For TWENTY MINUTES. I was sitting there so long the nail techs were looking around and looking at me with pity. Then a few assured me he’d be back soon. He completely disappeared. No one offered me anything to drink while I waited. Then afte 15 minutes I turn around to see him doing someone else’s manicure when he’s supposed to be doing mine. After twenty minutes I’ve had enough and remove the foil. My nails are a mess, my fingers are prunes, completely stripped of any moisture having had the acetone on way too long.

I planned on paying for the little time he gave me and asked how much I owed for the soak off. The guy is like “you don’t want to get them done?” I say no I’m going somewhere else. Not in a rude way either. I chose to not make a fool out of anyone in front of the customers. The boy at the counter (his son) asks him how much I owe and he says something then they both start laughing at me as if I’m some sort of joke. Normally I wouldve asked what the hell was so funny, but I’ve taken a new path. Well screw them and thanks for the free soak off. I’m a heavy tipper at nail salons so they definitely missed out.

Save your time. I went right across the street to what I think is called Nail Time. The atmosphere is much nicer, REALLY nice, cozy, and the service fast. My full set and gel polish were done within 20 minutes without sacrificing quality, and I was on my way.

Nice people and good service but such a mediocre job on my pedi. I sat there the entire time wishing I went to my usual spot and regretted going somewhere new. Like clearly my feet need a good scrub and he just brushed it twice gently. That's all I get pedis for- to smooth my feet and he was going to let me walk out with crusty feet. I had to tell him TWICE to please scrub my feet! Thats what I paid for. My gosh. Not going back. Not to mention the place is kinda dirty. Could use a nicer aesthetic.

This was my first time here since my usual nail tech at another location moved. I learned that they are under new management, so I decided to give it a try.

Pros:
- no wait time (but I did make an appt)
- My nail tech was very gentle and friendly. She did not rush and tried her best. I always get the gel polish; a few of my nails had a bit too much, but it wasn't a big deal at all.
- This salon uses bags in its pedi spas to maintain cleanliness. It was something to get used to, but I appreciated the effort.
- Mimi provided very good customer service. She's the only one I'd trust to care for my nails.

Cons:
- There was a stark contrast between the old and newer employees. One in particular was having a conversation with a customer that went too far for my tastes. I develop a relationship with my nail techs, hair stylists, etc. It was disheartening to hear this employee tell everyone else about another customer's business as soon as she walked out of the salon.

Edit: polished peeled relatively quickly to be gel. The polish on some toes came off without me noticing.

I really enjoyed my experience overall, my nail technician was very nice and I got in and out. I got a gel manicure, and not even a week later, the polish started to lift and come off (not just a piece chipped, the whole layer of polish came off leaving my nail naked) I ALWAYS, get gel on my hands and this has never happened before. I went back and had them fix the polish and they did but you could tell that she didn't want to fix it for me. As soon as I got home, it happened to two more of my nails. Again, this never happens when I get gel. Normally my nails just grow out and it's time for a new manicure, but at this place, it hasn't even been a week yet and the layers of my manicure were just peeling off like it was nothing.

So disappointed. My nails are crooked. I asked for them to be fixed, and I'm made out to be a jerk for asking. Got my toes polished and it's so frustrating that you have to double check and then say "can you please fix this, this and this"
If you don't say anything they'll let you pay for half done work.

Awesome experience as always at the nail place!! Shouts out to my Nina!!! She rocks!!! She always does a great job!!! Very skilled at designs and she is very sweet woman. I've been going to V.N nails for a few years and this is the place to be. Locke is also great with nails also. I only go to either Nina or Locke. These two are the best!! If you ever in the bay meadows area, please stop by and get your nails and toes painted at its finest!!!

I've been going to VN Nails on and off for 15 years depending on whether I lived In Jax or not. I've watched the owners kids grow up over time and now the daughter is a nail tech too. Love the friendliness of all the employees and also appreciate that they know their customers so well. They also know when I haven't been in for a while. :) They almost always do a perfect job and if there a tiny detail I'm not crazy about, they fix it no questions asked. Totally worth the price and the drive.

Very disappointed, called in my appointment a hour in advance to get a full set done with my daughter. And they took my daughter and left me waiting for over a hour. While they took in numerous other customers. Needless to say I won't be back. And sad because I've always thought highly of this salon. But I was completely ignored this time. So next time I'll stick with the salon in San Marco. This salon has poor customer service skills.
