I would not recommend going here even if it is the only school you have been accepted to. This post is not meant to tarnish the sweet name that USF pretends to uphold but bring light on issues that should be discussed and dealt with for current and prospective students.
USF is a decent school if it is the only university you can get into or you are a local. The parking at both campuses is horrendous which is typical of most colleges but if you are trying to find parking a hour before class you might as well go home and go back to sleep. The student activities are not the best but not the worst.
For this campus to hold themselves to such high standards is laughable considering the treatment by faculty and staff. Any concerns raised with school officials is disregarded and you are stuck feeling as though your tuition money is all this school wants. There is a difference between going to college and having to teach yourself a lesson or two here and there vs going to college and teaching yourself an entire class in a semester. Because students don’t speak up against unjust conditions by faculty and staff they continue to neglect students. And when students do bring any issues up to school officials they are disregarded if their cause for concerns aren't extreme issues such as discrimination or sexual misconduct.
As for safety it should be illegal how unsafe it is on campus. There are weekly alerts about suspects with guns, rapes and beatings on campus. For the tuition you are spending here you should at least feel safe to walk to your car without fear of being harmed. The only time security are on campus police are seen on campus is earlier in the day as they direct traffic to the parking garage which is quite unnecessary and a waste of resources.
Before you schedule a tour or pay one dollar for tuition at USF I suggest looking at other schools that offer the same programs but care more about teaching students and preparing them for their careers not just getting tuition at all cost.
Beautiful campus! You can chill out , eat , study outside etc.. They have all different kind of majors , programs , degrees !💖 Its really a awesome school 😊
Rampant cheating. The absence of a collegial atmosphere. I felt unwelcome. I had expected so much more. Perhaps I expected too much.
Parking is a major issue. Students can spend hours looking for a spot to park and still be late to class. Tickets are given out generously. Admissions, HR and student services lose your documents all the time and they do not care at all. They Literally say "it's your problem not ours". (Example; They have confirmed receiving and then lost my transcripts three separate times). Staff in these departments are rude and behave as if it were past closing hours and your forcing them to work even if there is no one else to be attended to.
The school as a whole is increasing its academic and athletic rankings but still has many short comings in everyday operations.
FIU, FAU, UF, and FSU have better campuses in terms of navigation and scenery.
I love USF, great programs and great staff. This is my first year as a masters student and they have been nothing but supportive of me. So glad I choose this school. Def would recommend. ♡♡♡
I spent many years at USF, taking many night classes while working full time and I'm glad I did. I've always had awesome professors who cared about their students. The campus is very large and well maintained and maybe one day a football stadium will be built there. I'm proud to have earned my Bachelor's degree at USF. Go Bulls!
USF has such a beautiful campus based on the tour that I went on. Considering the fact that I haven't applied yet, I can't speak on the financial aid and things such as that. There's nothing at the moment to speak negatively on besides the fact that there's an amusement park literally across the street which causes a lot of traffic.
I hate this school! I try not to say hate, but it brings me to that point! I figured I would end up overwhelmed the first day of school, but turns out that it is the second day of school that I, and many many other people, had to deal with this! This is my first time taking classes at this university, so basically it's a whole new experience for me, and unfortunately this experience is not a positive one. This isn't my first encounter with an issue at this school, since just a few weeks before school started, I was finally picking my classes because I had to change my major since the major I was set to do wasn't willing to work with me and accommodate to my needs. So here's today's encounter:
I was searching for a parking spot for over two hours, and decided to try and park in the Gold Zone. But low and behold, what do I see?! A guy going around marking cars for parking in the wrong spots! I went up to him and explained my situation to him, beyond distraught looking obviously, and said that I have nowhere to park and have been looking for over two hours and my class starts soon! All's he told me was "you have to keep looking." So thank you USF, for being so money hungry and selfish that y'all can't provide more parking for your obviously over-populated school, and making this here student late for her Christian Thoughts class. So because of this whole entire situation this morning, I went to class this morning (what was left of it anyways) and prayed for this school to get its head out of their butt! What a nice way to start out my morning crying and cursing! I REALLY appreciate it. Unlike the authorities who deal with the above mess I just talked about, my teachers are wonderful and understanding, as well as some of my classmates.
PS. You should really invest in parking garage space counters for each floor.
Excuse my google account name, I am a junior at USF and was quick to realize they cut back on quality A LOT. They work on the basis of quantity and cost rather tha quality, the dining hall food is poor, staff are undertrained, the buildings are nice but poorly maintained, the professors are educated but ignorant. The university makes an effort to make itself look nice rather than polishing its existing components, they spend tremendous amounts of student tuition and government funds on having bigger, nicer, more expensive buildings and then sweep them and its older students under the rug as they progress through the usf system. The students 'touring' the school or in 'orientation' are frequently given nicer food, free things, and better treatment than their current students so they increase the size of their student body and thereby increase the amount of available funds. Very schemey university, other universities are likely the same possible better or worse. Hope this helps you in making a career decision
As an alumni of USF, I had hoped my child would have the same positive experience that I had. How wrong I was. It was obvious from my child's first day at orientation that USF has become a bastion of the radical left. During orientation, new students are forced to sit through hours of hate-filled racist remarks with white students told they should feel guilty for being born white. It is clear that racism towards whites and abnormal behavior are justified and even encouraged at this university. My generation grew up believing that all peoples were equal and to be treated as such, but at this university they want to promote a belief that some or more equal than others. The identity politics on display at USF are disgusting. I doubt anything will change in the near future given their current leadership. I am now encouraging my child to attend a different university, one where all are treated fairly and equally.
In America cheaters live in these locations:
1. Clinics.
2. University.
3. Wall-street.
4. Police stations.
5. Car repair shops.
6. Government.
All in all, I am ashamed to be part of USF. I don't have money, if i did, I would have gone to some community college in another state to get my bachelors.
ABSOLUTELY HORRIFIC Website to navigate!!!!!!! There is NO information on any DNP programs that they have. I.e. Dermatology or Anesthesia. NO tuition breakdown or specific number. NO curriculum based schedule. NO consumer email to write to. What a dang joke. WHEN SOMEONE is hiding the numbers, in dealing with tuition, MONEY! Something is up. Ill spend my GI Bill somewhere else.
The athletic (football) recruitment staff are amazing. They're completely knowledgeable and are always available to answer questions for new recruits! I'm confident my son will have a great college experience at USF.Go Bulls!!!🤘🏾
