Very nice store. If you are looking for anything UW Badger you will find it here.
The university book store is more than just a book store! They have everything from apparel to water bottles to posters and more. Of course, if you need a textbook for a course, this is the place to go!
Make sure to check online for textbook prices before buying a textbook here. It's often a place where students go for textbooks as well as stationary supplies and various Wisconsin wear. It has some electronics supplies, but the electronics section was moved to its own store (which quickly closed within 2-3 years of it being opened where the now 7-Eleven stands) and thus doesn't have much variety when it comes to electronic needs. If it did still have its own dedicated electronics staff as it once did, I would give it 5 stars.
It is neat to visit, but the layout is a little difficult to navigate in order to find what you want. As one would hope, there is a good selection. There are better places to purchase Badger clothing however, in my opinion, in Madison.
I would say it's a very typical bookstore but the place could use some more organization. It felt very confusing walking around the aisles, not entirely because everything was RED! lol but because, the place was structured weird and clothing were organized in a confusing manner, at least to me. Prices are obviously high, it's a university bookstore! But good selection of stuff.
Great customer service! The girl that helped me at shipping was very sweet and helpful, much appreciated after an awful experience at the USPS across the street. I wish I had caught her name so she could be recognized!
I am a collector of fine pens, and University Bookstore used to have the best selection in Madison. Unfortunately they've succumed to a combination of more people shopping online and fewer people enjoying the pleasure of fine writing instruments.
This is not limited to pens, however, as the same issue applies to its selection of books. While I do continue to occasionally stop in, I feel that the name could easily be changed to University Clothes Store.
They have a really good selection of art supplies here, but you definitely pay for the convenience of staying on campus. The textbooks are crazy overpriced, definitely just buy online somewhere.
They are very strict on theft here and make you put you bags into lockers (which I find inconvenient, but understandable). The books are really really overpriced ($300 for a Computer Science textbook that you can find online for $20). The people are helpful, but some of the older staff seems to resent the customers. It is also literally a basement with shelves from IKEA and signs that could've been better prepared by a high school organization. Literally every other college book I've been in has taken some of their exorbitant profits and used them to spiff their place up a little. Not here.
Incredibly overpriced books and often rude staff. Although it is affiliated with the university, do not think that this will be a good value or have your interests as a student in mind. I only rate it two stars for the occasional employee that is incredibly helpful and friendly. Also, be aware you cannot bring backpacks into the actual bookstore in the basement, you will be forced to put it in a locker.
Lots of school supplies, apparel, and more. You can call ahead or check their website for textbook information. Employees there are knowledgeable and very helpful.
The selection is amazing. The hours are great. The location is convenient. What more needs to be said?
