One of my go to local downtown taverns. Classic Wisconsin place. Bartenders Troy and Teddy are great guys. A five star beer and shot joint but it’s not for fancy people.
Great place! All season patio with TV's. Great food and excellent staff.
Echo is always a great spot to watch the game and have a bite. Their calzones are really great and they always have a tasty craft beer selection. One of my mainstays for sure.
This is the best place to eat and drink before a Badger game. Troy is by far my favorite bar tender, not only in Madison, but anywhere I have been. He is super attentive, and a downright nice guy.
Tried to go there to watch a football game that wasn't a Wisconsin game. Would NOT recommend. Ultimately, I thought I was being very polite in asking if they could either change a TV to the game I wanted to see or if they could let me know which TV would play the game i requested. Apparently, neither of these things were possible for them, which isn't really acceptable at a SPORTS bar.
I moved in close to the echo this summer and was really hoping to make it my regular go to bar- but both times I've gone there I've been amazed by the terrible service. The first time I went there we placed a beer order with our server, and after over a half hour of waiting for our beer I went inside to check on the server, and he flat out admitted to forgetting about me- they ended up comping our beers, so all was forgiven and I gave them another shot. The next time I went our server seemed super attentive and sweet, and we had no issues getting our beers- but we ended up waiting over 50 min for food before calling it quits and asking our server to leave. Our server told us our food was on its way multiple times, but we watched multiple tables around us who arrived and placed orders after us get food while we were still waiting. Again, my beer was comped for the inconvenience- but I still left feeling very frusterated by the whole experience
Beautiful patio and a great place to watch the Badgers. A pretty decent menu (standard bar fare) though I've heard the pizzas are outstanding.
My staff, bartender as well as kitchen staff were. Incredibly congenial, funny, professional. I live so near by, but was a definitely repeat location. Excellent. Tracy
Staff was friendly and the food was respectable. Atmosphere was fine for they type of place it is. They do have a nice patio, but it was too chilly that day to sit out. All around I'd give it a solid 3 due to it being good, but not anything special. Also, there was an AC vent blowing on me the whole time I was there.
Great sports bar. Lots of TV, very helpful and friendly staff. Close to the Kohl Center!
One of my absolutely favorites. Good beer selection, awesome food. Patio out back, especially in the summertime, is great for being so close to downtown
Love the service, the food and the awesome atmosphere. It's great for watching sports and they do a great job integrating into the community. I'm heavily into charities and it's impressive how often I see an 'echo tap' sponsor!
The pizza. It is great. They make the dough from scratch and put it together to order. The other food is good but I always go back to the pizza. Have you ever had a signature dish somewhere and it varies a bit depending on who makes it or who all is in the kitchen or even the weather? Maybe it's just me, but I love that the pizza at the Echo is a hand-crafted work of art. The dough is always fresh and yummy but the amount of sauce and cheese can vary slightly. And the coverage of said ingredients and your toppings will vary in geography on the delicious crust; gorgeous brown toasting on the outside and delicious baguette soft on the inside. Sometimes the crust is wide like a big wave in the surf and other times it is smaller and just barely holds back a reservoir of sauce and cheese. The crust is most notable in the hand-tossed (why anyone would want a lesser load of glorious wheat and gluten, as offered in the thin crust or pan, is beyond me) but if you like it one way or another just ask. I may live nearby and return often; but it's not because I'm lazy. The pizza will speak to you on your dreams.
If you're looking for someplace to drink and watch football, then this place is four stars. Plenty of TVs, cheap beer, and usual bar food. Avoid the veggie burger (my fault for thinking that would be a good idea) and stick to anything involving cheese. I was there on a slow night, so not sure how it gets when busy but I never waited for a drink and food was quick coming out.
