We made reservations for 12:30p and got in on time when we arrived.
I ordered the Walleye Sandwich and my companion ordered the Seafood Cheese Ravioli and Vegetable soup.
The food came out in a timely manner and the waitress was friendly.
The fish sandwich: There wasn't much fish for the size of bun. Any mayo disappeared in to the bun. So there wasn't much to compliment the fish.
The ravioli was tasty. The sauce was balanced and the seafood was a nice mix.
Excellent food and service. Quiet, and a beautiful setting.
For a small town this restaurant has an interesting menu. The food was very delicious. And they have some gifts not a lot.
The food came out quick, and was delicious. We shared the grilled cheese and the spinach avocado melt. Both were excellent, the grilled cheese came on a fresh baked in house bacon jalapeno cheddar bread. The spinach avocado melt, was bright and birdsong work freshness. The service was quick and attentive. Coconut cream pie and the turtle cheesecake are spot on dessert choices! Definitely try this place out, you can't go wrong
Cute little place with a friendly staff. Entrees were delicious, I had the shrip Po' Boy sandwich and my gf had the seafood medley with cheese ravioli.
Knocked one star off because her lemonade was bad - she said it tasted like it hardly had any sugar at all, and the French Onion soup lacked the layer of melted cheese across the top of the bowl that, in my opinion, is requisite for the dish.
Always a pleasant place with great food and service. Today we sat outside on the deck overlooking the small Sugar River. Highly recommended.
What a charming and beautifully restored old place. The food and drink are superb and it's fun to think of all the people who have entered this building over the decades. While you're dining here, look around and imagine it being filled with little desks filled with small children back in Wisconsin's agrarian days. I went to a schoolhouse like this when i was in 3rd and 4th grade -- the memories came immediately flooding back!
The decor of the dining area and the gift shop are very lovely! Lots of really nice gifts tho look through. The food was good, service was good as well. Over all, I will definitely visit again.
Food was good. Service a little slow. Some desserts store bought.
WOW ! If you enjoy fine dining in a very small , artsy town with the option of literally sitting on a deck / patio overlooking The Sugar River amongst nature then this is the only place around that you can do that at ! Literally unique ! Not kind of unique but truly one of a kind . The food is tasty and fresh served by very polite and friendly local staff . If you want either before your delicious meal or afterwards you can stroll down the road only two or three blocks away and peruse the local art galleries and other stores . It is a great dining experience and a very nice little town to enjoy ! Try it soon : - ) We love it !
Great food, nice ambiance
Following several really strong recommendations from friends who are fans of fine dining, we finally made it over to the Paoli Schoolhouse Cafe this past weekend. Our time there exceeded all of the high recommendations. It was one of those "holistically " delightful experiences: The ambiance of the cafe (e.g.,the schoolhouse setting, the arrangement of the tables, the light, etc) is wonderful The service is superb and very warm And, of course, the food! From the excellent cup of coffee that got us started, to the sandwiches and that piece of homemade coconut cream pie - As my grandfather from Japan would say on such a splendid occasion, "UMAI (Delicious)!!!" The Paoli Schoolhouse Cafe is our new favorite place to head off to in the greater Madison area and we highly, highly recommend it!
We were there for lunch and will return for dinner.
