Decent hotel a bit funky. Could be cleaner and bigger and nicer. Location is amazing with private beach. Manager was nice and helpful.
The owners are very nice, showed us around upon arrival. We stayed in unit 10, the nearest one to the gulf. From the window and the yard, you can see the skyline, a little water, and lots of vegetation. It is a short walk to the beautiful water and excellent shelling. The main photo on their website is the exact view from this unit. The atmosphere is old Florida in a cute little one bedroom cottage style unit that is prepped and ready with towels, washcloths, dishes, pot, pan, cooking utensils, coffee maker, extra bedding, and free wifi. The owners live across the street and provide guests the use of their backyard pool as well as many bikes for daily rental. There are picnic tables, outdoor rinse shower, grills, and a large screen topped shell rinsing table as well. We brought our Shepherd and Terrier with us for some fun on the beach which cost an extra 25 per night (website says 20) per dog but was worth it to be able to get away with the pups in tow. According to previous reviewers, they used to provide a pet basket with treats, pet bowls, and towels but we didn't get that. The furniture wasn't very comfortable, the A/C didn't work as well as I would have expected, and I had to wash all dishes, pans, and utensils prior to use. I guess the last guests didn't care how things were put back and housekeeping must not have inspected the cleanup job prior to settling in new guests. Also, we came with perfectly clean dogs and left with fleas. Maybe that was just something overlooked. Since the place is ceramic tile, maybe they don't treat for fleas thinking it wouldn't be an issue but sand means fleas and dog friendly rentals paired with all that sand means treatment should probably take place between each guest's stay. So overall, the atmosphere is very simple, a cute little place to get away for a weekend and hopefully the fleas have since been taken care of but I think next time, we'll try a new place. However, this place is due at least 3 stars for the very private, beautiful, secluded beach and the ability to get away with the furkids along.
We really enjoyed our stay. Our cabin,#4 was thr largest available atTWM&C. We brought 7 people, were originally bringing 10. The 7 of us fit comfortably but if tbe other 3 adults had come we would have been way cramped. One bedroom has very short beds, kid size.
This accomadation is not
Luxurious, fancy, up dated or roomy.
Well stocked, or glam. Has very low ceilings, beware of the ceiling fans.
Accom' was for 10, we had 4 forks, not enough of anything in kitchen. Tv in one bedroom did not work. Really fits only 4 people well.
What we liked
Laundry at our back door. Lots of clean towels available.
Laundy for our use as well as the establishment.
Close enough to walk to beach, which we actully enjoyed.
Clean inside cabin, carport and dining deck.
Extremely conveinent to everything on Island.
Quaint, quiet and peacful.
We felt like it was our own little private cottage on our own stretch of beautiful, bountiful ,private Sanibel Island Beach.
Secluded.
Excellent fishing from shore
Kids loved playing in surf everyday.
Shelling was amazing.
2 bathrooms and showers worked well.
Our large dog was right at home.
Loved the neighborhood.
Very nice grills, handy water hose available for cleanup outside before entering house.
Pool looked good but it was so wonderful 'beaching' we did not swim in pool once.
Appliances were suffient.
Air conditioning was the bomb.
We loved the bikes
If we return
We will pack sparingly, cause we have access to laundry
Bring our own ' camping dishes and utensils' so we can cook and eat in .
Bring fishing equipment from home
Bring our own garbage bags, didn't have any, had trouble getting them
Overall, we loved our stay, made many great memories, and would go again.
We give TW a 7 out of 10 score.😎
Fantastic property! Just steps away from the seemingly deserted beach. Pet friendly which is a big plus when traveling. Staff is awesome.
It was a beautiful cottage by the beach! The only problem was that it was a lot of money per night. Around $300!
Wonderful! Paradise! Dog friendly! Walk to the beach! We are in #7 (private screened in Patio), the room was so clean. The rooms are wonderful, the owners are so helpful, the location could not be better. They have wagons, umbrellas, chairs plus so much more. They offer a pool, have charcoal grill ( bring charcoal and stuff). We got here last Sunday, checked in, grocery shopped at Bailey's, they had everything we needed. In the room we have a stove/oven, fridge, freezer, microwave, ceiling fans in living room and bedroom. Coffee pot, filters supplied, toaster, the kitchen is stocked with plates cups wine glasses all utinsils. The bedroom has 2 double beds. All you need are groceries. The beach is only a short walk. It's a semi private beach and the shelling is phenomenal, we saw porpises playing in the water. The most people I saw at 1 time on the beach was 6. 😎 BEST EATS:
The SandBar - Fillet mignon (best I've ever had)
Timbers: Lobster bisque, Oyster sampler, stuffed Shrimp.
Clam Shack: Lobster roll. Lunch
Over Easy: Best breakfast.
🏖We will definitely be back.🏖🌊🐚🌴 Thank you Luke&Cheryl For A FANTASTIC vacation.
Great place to get away. Cheryl and Luke really care. Alan
Great experience and extremely accommodating! We will definitely be visiting again!
Very quaint with access to a fairly private and beautiful beach. We are really enjoying our stay.
Great place very clean and pet friendly. If your going to Sanibel this is the place to stay.Beach is private and clean for being pet friendly and everyone is helpful and nice. We'll be back
Rooms were clean, decorated beachy as you would expect, towels fluffy, unit very clean. Staff very friendly and nice. Not fancy but homey and comfortable, steps from Gulf. Loved private beach. Shelling was outstanding. Bathrooms were excellent.
I'd definitely recommend Tropical Winds to anyone looking for a quiet spot on Sanibel. It's near enough to other sights like the shell museum, nature reserve, etc, but on its own stretch of quiet beach that is well away from the busier beaches. Because of fewer visitors, the shelling was nice here too!
The efficiencies are well-stocked, one of the best I've stayed at when it comes to kitchen supplies (which is nice if you're like myself and like to cook a few meals to save some money!). The unit I stayed in was clean, well laid out, and nicely decorated (beach theme of course, but not that over the top, cheesy vibe which you can get some places). Beds were comfy, bathroom looked newly renovated and very nice, and plenty of room for the size of the place!
You also have access to pool, and free use of beach supplies, which is definitely nice because it means less to haul out and keep track of all trip!
The staff were all pleasant and helpful, no issues there. They were quite understanding when I had a few people in my party who were on the fence about exactly when they were coming to the island.
Tropical Winds has an old Florida vibe, which was right up my alley, but those looking for more of a resort feel might be better looking elsewhere.
Location can't be beat. It is literally a short walk from your front door and you're on the beach!
