When I stayed here, we had a wonderful experience. The beds were the most memorable thing for me. Perhaps it was all the jet-lag, but I laid down, and it felt like what laying on a cloud would feel like. The staff was friendly and quick, and the decor has probably changed by now. Their conference space was large, and the event staff were very professional.

I have stayed at better Holiday Inns. I stayed at a Westin in a 3rd World country (Guatemala) and my experience there was infinitely better. Check in took much too long. I really don't ask for much - nice bed, reasonable service. There was barely a functioning clock (which wasn't set) when we arrived. On day #2, our shampoo/conditioner was actually removed and not replaced, and when we called that evening to have it replaced, it took over an HOUR to get it! My poor husband almost went down to the lobby in his robe to get some shampoo! Again, 2 towels only (for a king sized/double room, really?). Closet smelled rancid (urine odor, even) and when we were checking in, a poor man 2 doors down was trying frantically to remove all his things b/c his bathroom toilet was overflowing. We are going to a destination wedding in Hawaii next year at a Westin and we will NOT be staying at the Westin there thanks to this location's exceptionally poor service.

What a great hotel! They helped me out in a big bind. I went to the Biltmore, and after seeing what a total dump that place was, I went to the Westin with a walk-in rate of $149 a night (a bargain, considering). The room was immaculate, well decorated, with a great view of the city. While there was noise from the street below, it was quiet in the halls, and I never heard the neighbors. The dream shower was awesome, and the shower products were great smelling! I would stay here again in a minute!

Location, location, location, is not everything! This was our second stay at the Westin. The first was ok, albeit noisy do to the street sounds. We asked for possibly quieter room. The girl behind the desk ensured me we would have a better experience. Hmmm.. we got to our room and it was the same one as last time, just more lacking. There was a brown film/dust in the tub. I called to have it cleaned. There were 2 towels for a room with 2 double beds (four of us). Called again. No extra pillows or sheets. Called again. All taken care of but, really? We saved $14 over the rack rate. Other nits: Window shade missing, toilet seat bolts exposed, towels smell like a campfire, and the tub didn’t drain.

Valet service was always snappy except when we where checking out. They couldn’t find our keys (for our van they parked seconds ago). My family had to keep moving our luggage under the building awning due to the increasing soaking rain while the valets ran around like muppets under no control searching for our keys. Meanwhile my car lights keep flashing and the alarm activation tone keeps beeping puzzling all of these bright minions even further. It was only until I went looking for and found MY keys on a poor chap that hadn’t been able to start his car for 15 minutes did the situation resolve. Priceless.

Everyone who usually writes a review are the ones that complain. So, i am here to tell you that this hotel is gorgeous and was very helpful and pleasent. Not to mention it was in the center of downtown providence. Everything is just around the corner great place to stay a weekend.
