The hotel itself is fairly rundown and the carpet had stains on it. At around 10:30 pm, I smelled cigarette smoke very strongly coming in from the hallway. When I tried to call the front desk, the phone didn't work (someone had switched the plug from the handset into another unworking jack) so I had to call from my cellphone. The front desk woman offered to move me to the other end of the hallway, on the same floor which did not feel like a very useful move. We ended up sleeping in the same room with the door to the balcony open (during December). The next day the front desk woman expressed her apologies and offered us a free night stay whenever we wanted to return. She said she was sending us an email with a voucher, which we never received. I called back the next day and she said she would work it out with the owner who was away that day. Again I received nothing, and again I called back. After the 4th call I gave up and swore I'd never return to the hotel, and would share my experiences with others. Stay somewhere else. The views aren't worth it.
They screwed up on booking. We wanted the oceanview room for two nights but they forgot they had a wedding in for the second night. So we did have to change rooms. They only charged us for the price of the room the size of a closet for both nights but I would have rather paid the higher price for the oceanview room I wanted. The walls are paper thin so that wedding party sounded like they were in our room, yelling and slamming doors. I thought with it being the off season we would avoid anything like that. Unfortunately, I was wrong. I was very disappointed with our stay.
If a restored and updated vintage experience appeals to you, you'll love this place. Great ocean views. Lovely and attentive staff.
Love the Location - best in Narragansett!! The views are breath taking and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. It is truly a remarkable piece of Narragansett history as one of the staff explained it was built in 1867 and is the only one of the original five hotels still remaining today! Can't wait to go back and I will!!!
Love it here. Alot of new upgrades can't wait to see the new upgrades from summer
Awful place to stay. We're currently here now for a wedding at the towers. The first room they gave us was 117. You had to walk on a dirt and grass trail to get to the room. There was no sidewalk. The chair was broken in the room and clearly not cleaned well. They then moved us to 112 which has a flimsy door that leads directly into the hotel lobby. It doesn't have a deadbolt on it, only a household style door knob lock. Doesn't feel very secure and somebody has already tried to open that door tonight while we've been in the room. I would never stay here again.
My husband and I were supposed to be in myrtle beach last week. Our flight got cancelled so we decided to visit the rody coast which we love. We loved our vacation here at the Atlanta House! The staff was more than accommodating and the area is breathtaking. Loved the room with the ocean view. Very private. Will definitely be back!
The price and location make this place tolerable. It is in need of a serious update. The hallways are dark and the rooms need more then a little TLC. The view from the rooms are spectacular.
One star is for the location. Dead on the ocean walkable to everything in Narragansett. The other is for the staff. They were friendly and helpful. For almost $250 a night I would have expected nicer. The carpets have to be at least 10 years old stains all over them. The cable wires are looped around all over the TV. Our friends room was the same. The partial ocean view was comical but technically a partial view. I felt like I was at a random motel off the side of I-95. I'm very glad we only stayed for 2 nights. I would have been very let down if I stayed there for an extended vacation. Way over due for a full remodel/rehab. Could be an awesome property.
A quick visit but enjoyed myself!
Dated but comfortable, clean, staff didn't seem too friendly but were OK. Nothing to do in the area, glad we only stopped for one night
Decent, locally owned place. Staff was very friendly, and management was nice enough to work with me on getting a refund for the last day of my reservation, which I cancelled due an impending storm.
Incredibly underrated hotel, awesome view and really nice restaurant near by. Way cheaper then staying in Newport and easy to pop over and spend the day. Rooms are in need of a little love and updating but the low price more than makes up for that.
Great view of ocean, location is in great area, walk to beach or Coast Guard House. After check-out allowed to stay parked on property to go to beach last day, then used bathrooms to change. If you are looking for 4-Seasons, find a place that charges that much, if you want a place that offers view/location and ease..stay here.
