So when looking for apartments for school I ignored the bad reviews, figuring everyone had one so I might as well. Please don’t make the mistake I did, pretty sure management knows me by name because of all of the problems we have had. In the beginning I tried to be nice but quickly learned that it accomplished nothing and the only way to get anything done is to make a scene.
They did not clean one bit before we arrived and the whole place was disgusting, both our microwave and dishwasher were broken (paint melted and chipping away on microwave, dishwasher covered in mold) it took them WEEKS for microwave and over a month or two for the dishwasher. We had to fight to get them to clean and their excuse was they didn’t have enough time to clean all units. The only way you can get anything done is if you scream at managers, and still then they don't want to do anything. There was a mouse in our apartment for over a week before they tried to do anything ( at that point we just bought traps and caught it ourselves).
There is a leak above our shower and each time they promised they sealed the leak in pipe, yet once every month it would begin to leak again, each time worse than the last. After months of this and seeing the poorly plastered over hole that kept reopening (it was like that when we moved in so its clearly an ongoing problem) we could see mold in the hole and went off at their blatant disregard for fixing this matter and endangering our health. Over winter break they claimed to have fixed it completely and properly resealed the ceiling, however we have no idea if the problem was actually fixed or if they have just plastered over it a bunch before detailing ceiling. Would have assumed it was fixed if we haven’t witnessed so many times how incompetent the owners/managers are. For example, the stopper in our bathroom sink was broken so they just removed it and never replaced it will probably have to pay for that when I move out. And they have the nerve to ask us why we wouldn’t resign.
Sad part is I could go on about even more problems Be prepared to over pay for a doll sized kitchen, no storage space, and paper thin walls/ceilings. Safe to say living here has been hell and I wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy.response / report this review -

Stayed here for 2 years and loved it! Apartments are large and the bus pass is really handy. Having my own bedroom is nice. The closets are spacious and the ceiling fan in each bedroom is super helpful. The pool and the grills are awesome during the warmer months. Lots of amenities including the pool, gym, study room, pool table, tanning bed, and many more! I have never had an issue finding parking directly in front of my building. They also do a lot of events/food/games for The Park community just for fun. Great place to live!

good place to live. extremely helpful staff, left document in state college and staff helped me recover it through the phone while I was home for the winter break. nice clubhouse, gym and great community overall. Buses run every 10-15 minutes and it takes less than 5 minutes to get to campus. recommended

This is my first year living at The Park and it’s been great. I love having my own room and sharing a bathroom with only one other person - never having to worrying about “timing” conflicts when getting ready. It was also nice having a decent sized kitchen and living room and having a washer and dryer. I never had a problem finding parking. Even though I have a car, I take the bus to school everyday. It’s so convenient and easy. Every time I picked up a package or went to the office for something everyone was super nice. They even sometimes have events with food which is a nice treat! I also haven’t had to use maintenance much but when I did, it took a couple days for them to come but was then fixed on the spot.

As I read through these reviews I wonder how many people have actually walked into the office and spoke with the staff about their issues. I have lived here for two years now and just signed to live here again for my third. When I moved in, my room looked exactly like the model except my counters are a different color and I have a higher ceiling being in a third floor apartment. Everything was clean and I was extremely excited. Since I have moved in I've never had a rude encounter with the office staff and have witnessed them to handle difficult and upset people very well and do everything in their power to address the issues.
When I first toured The Park I got onto the property and immediately knew that this was going to be my home. I had visited many other properties in State College and didn't have the sense of home and comfort that I did here.
There is also free PARKING on the property for all of the residents. This is not something that you find very often in State College. Also, there are visitor spots so when my friends come up for the weekend to stay they are able to park their car for $3 for the entire weekend!
The property is 20+ years old, and even with that my electric and gas bills are extremely reasonable, especially compared to horror stories I've heard from friends at other properties. The most I have ever paid is $20 for electric in the summer and about $7, then in the winter my electric bill is usually about $14 and the gas will be around $15. So extremely affordable thankfully.
Maintenance is slow to get things fixed, but when I took the time write how what the exact issue was with my window they had come up the immediate next morning to fix the issue.
I also really enjoy that much of the staff is students, this is usually who you will first encounter int the office. This is great because they understand what you are going through because they are too.
I'm made some really great connections and experiences here at The Park. I also like to be able to sit on my balcony and do my homework so this was huge for me. along with the washer and dryer in unit was an important item for me to have.response / report this review -

I had a great experience living at the Park. The apartments have a ton of space and everyone who works there is really friendly. If you want to live somewhere with more room, I would definitely live here.

Negatives:
I made a HUGE mistake with living here. Please DO NOT stay in this place. Believe me, its nothing like the model apartment or the pictures on the website.These people are very good at marketing and they have made their leasing office really good which might convince you to stay here. Except that, the apartments are all more than 26 years old and they need urgent renovation. For people who lift weights, their GYM does not have squat rack or even a bench press machine. Very few isolation exercises machines! I have to go to the campus gym because of this. I live in a 4 bedroom with 2 shared bathroom and this is some of the problems I faced on moving in this Fall Semester of 2017.
- Closet racks dirty and sticky (spend 2 hours cleaning it since maintenance did not respond )
- Blinds are old and dirty
- Carpet and walls are old and dirty
- A lot of bugs inside the apartment and around the community
- Washer and dryer didn't work
- Window screens broken
- Bathroom flush didn't work
Now here's the worst part. I submitted multiple maintenance requests and took me 6 emails until I had to go personally to the leasing office and firmly tell them to fix my bathroom flush. For two weeks, I literally couldn't use my bathroom. The bathroom is very small too and shower doesn't work properly most of the times.
Among all of this, only the bathroom got fixed somehow. Rest of the problems still remain. All the appliances are very OLD and do not work efficiently. For ex: I have to use the dryer 3 times minimum to dry my clothes. Also, the walls are thin and you can literally hear people talking or even walking up the stairs outside or near your apartment. Again, the Gym sucks too. There are much better places to live in downtown or nearby like The Heights (my friends live there). Please don't fall into the trap of just looking at the pictures and selecting the apartment. Its all false!
Only positive:
The bus system is good as it can take you directly to the campus and if you miss your bus, you can take 2 other loops which are around the community.response / report this review -

Terrible place.
On the day of move in, I was shocked that NOTHING was cleaned or any of the furnitures were organized. The windows had cracks, HEAVY spider webs, thick layer of dust everywhere, molds in the bathroom, mold stench/stain in the room carpets, etc. The drawers were knocked over in the middle of my room like someone robbed the place. I guess they don't inspect/clean the house before people move in.
The pool is never open (It was 'under maintenance' from Aug-June), gym poorly maintained, and the management is horrible.
During winter break, they did an inspection and told me that I had to pay ~$200 for the damage on a door. The thing is, that door was broken since the day of move-in. Thankfully, I took pictures of all the damages in the house on the first day of moving in and I ended up not paying for the damage (no apology from the management for trying to rip me off).
To be honest, this place is overpriced, and I would not recommend it to anyone else. Much better options in State College.response / report this review -

You get what you pay for. All maintenance is slow. However you are right next to giant. The buses pass by on both sides with 4 lines total, with a 5th a short walk away. If you feel like walking, campus is like 26 minutes away.

this place sucks. not only it's old and crappy, but also expensive. they charged me $1400 for things i didn't do (they call them cleaning fees). the apartment was in a better shape when i left than when i moved in but they still have managed to take my money anyways. our AC stopped working 2 months before we moved out and they didn't fix it. don't get fooled by the warm greetings from the office, they're just getting ready to rob you from your own money. believe me, it's a scam!! and by the way half of the reviews here are from people who actually work there.

The apartments are nice I couldn't complain. But if you have anything having to do with maintenance goodluck. We wanted our ice machine fixed and they just took it out and sat it on our stove. As well as a time where they left out our full bag of chicken from moving it, letting it thaw all day and resulting in us having to throw it out. We had multiple request after that coming home to a mess in our apartment after they are finished. Our dryer was fixed but they left white dust everywhere our personal belongings that they had to move were left thrown around and misplaced leaving us to clean up. The wifi NEVER works and the heater is SO loud. For what I am paying a month I had way to much trouble with management and maintenance to recommend to someone. The pool never opened either!

Very hostile toward students. They don't care about the students or property. Had mold in the apartment. I had to call the State Collage housing agency to get apartment mold repaired. And when you want to move out they make it impossible. Even if you find someone to take over your lease they still charge you $230. For What? You did all the work and they still penalize you. And don't expect Pen State to help you. Pen State doesn't care as well. They are all in only to make as much money as they can.

The Park is a pretty nice place for the price you pay. It's close to the bus stop. You might have to call maintenance for stuff such as the driers which are old and don't work too well but they usually fix things in a day or two. The view is amazing with a higher level balcony and they did a great job which matching me to my roommates. I did have some problems with the front office though.going back and forth sending in several notes to allow my therapeutic animal (a small cat). They had painters come to paint the building and didn't cover my car even though I parked at the end of the lot and they got paint all over the car which had to be professionally removed. That was a hassle that took more than two weeks to deal with and they refused to give me information to contact the company that got paint all over the car. Very frustrating. Steer clear of the office if you can but the student staff is great.
