We went to their office for getting info. They didn’t show us the apartment. They constantly asked us to apply (you can see this even in their website). So, we were supposed to pay the application fee, and be entered to the waiting list, without even seeing the place.
Some of these reviews are loaded with misinformation.
1. Access to on-site maintenance is included in your rent, not billed hourly. They were always timely for us, and any visitation (pest treatment, fire extinguisher testing, maintenance) were announced in advance.
2. The rates are outstanding for State College. Park Crest Terrace is government-subsidized (student friendly, low income) housing: $1080 per month for a 3BR 2Ba apartment with a washer and drier unit. Unless you live at a relative's house, you'll be hard-pressed to find anything cheaper.
3. The rental staff is friendly, helpful and professional. Unless you provoke them with rudeness, they will be nothing but nice.
4. It's true that the visitor parking system sucks; passes cost $1 per day, and you have to get them when the rental office is open. The office is closed on weekends, so you have to think in advance when you are having guests overnight. Otherwise, nearby street parking is free, but you'll get towed after 2AM.
5. We had no issues with our security deposit, just thoroughly clean before you move out, and don't destroy your apartment during your lease.
Small over priced 2 bedroom. Girlfriend Megan H. says every time the maintenance people go they charge you for an entire hour for 5 minutes of work. Moving when her lease is up in October but we'll stay until then.
Leslie and Melissa are some of the most best site managers/leasing agents I've ever enjoyed renting from. Was always very responsive to our needs. The parking rules can be annoying if you are trying to have visitors, but is great otherwise because I enjoyed never having to have to look for parking spaces. There is a list of all the things they can charge you for upon move out. As long as you make sure to take a look and fix/replace whatever needs to be done, we got back pretty much all our security deposit. There is a great first-time-is-free policy regarding all maintenance issues as well that was very nice. I was also concerned prior to moving in due to the multiple bad google reviews regarding weird rules and what not. We made it a point to double check with the office regarding any potential problems and they were always very clear and understanding regarding the expectations. The apartments are not five-star hotels, but this is a great community that I would recommend to anyone.
Very unfriendly leasing office staff, they don't care about your situation and don't have the patience to explain everything in details.
Lived here a long time ago. Looks like quality just goes down with rising prices. Maybe it's gotten better and that's how this place is still in business or maybe people need a place to live and can't find a better place. Here's hoping you have a better, positive experience if you do end up here.
It is a great place. Close to many groceries and along the route of N, NE bus. The office manager and staff are very very nice. They responded very quickly, and any issue reported would be taken care! Most often, the maintenance issue reported were solved within one day! I would strongly recommend this place to my friends. Great living experience!
Park Crest Terrace is a great place to live. I have lived here for 4 years now and have never had any issues. The office manager and staff are extremely helpful, friendly, and easy to communicate to. I have always been greeted with pleasant dispositions and their willingness to help me. have never had any major problems with the apartment, but when I have had a minor issue maintenance to come right away.
At first, I did not like when the new parking rules (Fall 2015) were instated. Before then, we had free guest parking. But now every person on the lease can keep their car here and be guaranteed a parking place. This is particularly helpful to students, now if there are 3 students in a 3-bedroom apartment, everyone can have their car here. In the past only 2 cars were allowed.
Overall, this is a great community to be a part of. I have always felt safe here!
