Although the hotel is in a great location (steps from the subway and Madison Square Garden), the rooms are a little run down. The water for the shower is a little inconsistent. They really need to spend a little bit of money upgrading the place before I would stay with them again.

The first thing I noticed was how nice the rooms were and how homely it made me feel. The service in the restaurant was incredible and the workers went above and beyond the call of duty. The food and drinks were excellent and I would definitely come back again

I was there with a large high school group. We had trouble getting our room. Once we were in the rooms were very clean and service was excellent. Lobby was gorgeous and location was close to lots of stuff. Tick Tock, which is connected to hotel, was great place for breakfast

If anyone is looking for a great deal on hotels you can check it out on HotelRaven. com Booked a room on there and they had the best rates around

Very tiny room, but then again it is NYC. It's a perfectly fine place to stay, but the check-in process was brutal. I showed up early and my room was not ready, which again is fine. However, every interaction I had with the staff about what I should expect was fraught with frustration and annoyance on their part. I ended up sitting in the lobby for 4.5 hours and they still refused to give me even a rough estimate of when the room might be ready. I asked only twice to get a sense for what I could expect timing-wise, and the second time they just showed frustration and then 3 different people called me back in quick succession and put me in the same tiny room they said was available 4.5 hours ago (they'd said it was available, but wasn't my original room and that it was so small that I wouldn't find it pleasant). So apparently asking for 2 updates in a span of 4.5 hours is sufficient for them to just want to get rid of you and stuff you into whatever room is available. Just a bad process, communication, and customer care all around.

It’s was a nice view. A bit crowded for my liking and the elevators filled fast if you weren’t paying attention. The front desk when I checked in was super nice. Can’t say the same for the staff the following morning.

Had a terrible stay. Clogged sink drains, poor sink tap design leading to water splashing all around the bathroom, extremely small bathrooms, and worst of all, water leaking out of the bath area on to the bathroom floor!! Had to use bath towels to absorb the water. Had to switch through 3 different rooms in a 3-night stay.
Given the 4 star rating this hotel has, i think it deserves a 0 star review, given even 2 or 3 star hotels fare better in comparison. Would suggest going for other much better hotels in the area available at a similar price point

Stayed in a single Queen room that claimed to have a view (and thus cost more). 50% of the view was of other hotel rooms in the building, and if I craned my neck I could see a couple unrecognizable buildings towards 10th Ave. Not worth the extra money; couldn't even see the city without standing right at the window. Everything in the hotel is old. Carpet, furnishings, fixtures, doors. Since it's old it wasn't very soundproof. And it also meant outlets were scarce; there were no outlets available anywhere near the nightstands so I couldn't plug my phone in overnight and keep it next to me. Bathroom sink had no counter space, just a small shelf mounted about 5.5 feet off the ground by the door. Shower pressure was good, though. And location to Penn Station (the reason I picked it) was fantastic; I think it's the only reason I would stay here again, and only if it were for 1 night.

Lovely hotel with a great location. We booked a renovated room and it's very nice. A bar fridge was $20 extra. The only downside is the long check in line. We arrived in the morning and were able to pre-check in and leave our bags. When we got back in the afternoon to get our keys, there was a long, slow-moving line that never seemed to shorten the rest of the afternoon. They could use either faster front desk staff, more staff or a shorter process.

Amazing! We arrived at check in tired after travel. As we were waiting in line we were waved over by a lady at a desk to the side. She not only was polite and friendly and joked with us as we checked in, but she upgraded our room to one with a view. She recommended a few restaurants and truly made us feel like valid guest. The New Yorker is a historic hotel and when I shared my excitement to be staying here, she shared some historic stories with us. The room is comfy and clean and our view is amazing! The staff is friendly and helpful. I would stay here Everytime we come to New York.

A very nice and economical hotel. Incredibly convenient due to its closeness to sights such as Times Square, the Empire State, and Penn Station. Many reviewers complained about poor wifi connections but they seem to have fixed that as of 2017. Rooms are a bit small (especially the bathroom), and ours lacked some usual in-room amenities, such as a fridge. Overall a fine establishment that was quite impressive considering the original hotel was built in the 1920's.

Stayed 2 nights. Location, lobby great. But that's where the wheels come off. I expected a small room but the bathroom was awful. Window casement painted black and sloppy job. Windows did not open and had a translucent white privacy coat, again a sloppy job. Shower tile grout had black mildew, anyone there heard of bleach spray? Very cheap shower curtain and rod. A messed up bath drain, a baseboard heater that I couldn't figure out how to turn the ancient thing off, so it was too hot in bathroom. Awful lighting, no vanity space and a toilet from the jazz age. The water pressure was amazingly great, but the sink drains at the pace of an elderly snail. Was looking forward to staying here,but it didn't deliver.

Beautiful art Deco hotel. Rooms are typical NYC rooms, smaller. The dining options are good quality in the hotel. The location is convenient right across the street from Penn Station and Madison Square Garden. It is only a few blocks from times square. Good value for the location and good service. I definitely recommend starting there.

Have stayed here twice and will probably stay here again in the future. The toilets need an upgrade but not because it has leaks. It works fine, but I think the design has to be updated. Location is perfect if you want to be near everything. Madison Square just diagonally across. They are quite strict with security and I appreciate that.

The New Yorker A Wyndham Hotel was a perfect location for the new age expo. Beautiful chandeliers and rooms galore gave us more than enough room. Food was readily available which was perfect for when I got hungry. The food wasn't bad and to be honest that's all I'm asking for. The service was not bad and they made sure everyone was registered.

I've stayed here on my last 4 visits to NYC. It's and around fantastic hotel. Location is excellent, staff are great, rooms are a great size with comfy beds and the original art deco features are fantastic.. It's a hotel full of history and charm. And if you get a room with a view you won't be disappointed. I recommend the new yorker to anyone that's going to NYC
