Food was good, but not very hot. The pot roast has a lot of fat on it for the size and price I paid. Server was great tho!! Very attentive. For this to be a nice restaurant I don't understand how the bathrooms were so nasty. First stall was out of toilet paper, second stall the door wouldn't really lock, and third one had toilet paper on floor.

Had an excellent dinner with friends here. The Aunt Beaut's Pan Chicken was some of the best chicken I've ever eaten. The creamed corn, mashed potatoes and mac n' cheese were great choices for sides as well. I'd recommend the sweet potato gelato for dessert. Helpful and courteous staff with an overall delicious dining experience.

We were seated immediately and wait staff was great. The food was amazing and out to us in under 10 minutes. Everything was hot and tasted fresh. Could hear others talking about how good the food was. Atmosphere was great.

Few places do a good job of executing what they offer but this place pulled it off impressively. I don't think I've had a better fried chicken sandwich, the catfish was nice and crispy, the sides were excellent. Everything was rich, heavy, and deliciously Southern.
Small bathroom for such that size of place, but I guess that's the rule in any down(up)town area. The philanthropic angle makes the place all that much more interesting, but go for the food if nothing else.response / report this review -

The food wasn't that good. The atmosphere was sweet, folksy. Lots of windows was nice. Our waiter seemed nervous but he was helpful and got our orders right. I was hoping the food to taste better than than it did.

My boyfriend took me here this past Saturday and it was AMAZING! We did not make reservations but were sat immediately. We both got the pot roast, which I loved and I don't normally enjoy pot roast. I couldn't get enough of the creamed corn & biscuits! I love the mission statement behind the restaurant and will absolutely be back.

Came here for my friend's birthday. Mentioned this to our waiter and he was kind enough to bring her a complimentary banana pudding with a birthday candle. We had the pimento cheese yum and fried chicken and sides. Macaroni and cheese is so good no lie. Green beans were so yummy. Really nice setting.

Dined there tonight with friends. It was like sitting down at my Mom's table. For me, that is high praise indeed. Really good southern style food that treated the food right, without any fussiness. Loved that it was served like a plate from home without a bunch of extra plates. Thoroughly enjoyed our meals..will definitely be back. Kudos.

This a great restaurant with a mission. It is a non-profit with net proceeds going to help those that are hungry! The food is excellent and the staff are very friendly.

This place is great--the cooking is great tasting, authentic southern style (I grew up in the deep South), the atmosphere is urban/modern--don't let the restaurant's mission fool you: they serve alcohol in an upbeat environment. Also, it was really affordable--to the point I almost felt guilty. If I stayed in uptown Charlotte all week, I would go here almost every day.

This place is amazing. All the food is great. I usually get fried chicken with creamed corn ans sweet potato mash. It's all good though and the place has a great mission and really helps people. I changed my amazon smile to donate to their charity.

This place was amazing! The location is busy, but they found a way to make room for myself and my work colleagues. The food was absolutely delicious and the drinks were also very good. The staff was above and beyond what I expected for such a busy location and I would highly recommend for anyone living in or visiting the area. I will definitely be returning!

The food here is AMAZING! I have had meatloaf, salmon, crab cakes, and po boy sandwich and they have all been great. I have also had there Mac and cheese, mashed sweet potatoes, black eye peas, and green beans. Also all delicious. I love what they are trying to do there also. They employee people there that may not get a job at other places. They give people an opportunity to learn and get some good work experience. Everyone is so nice. We went there with my 11 month old son and everyone was so nice and sweet to him. I love contributing to their cause and also getting great food.
