WATCH OUT! I parked here on a Wednesday night at 8:06pm and a tow order was placed on my car at 8:07pm!!! After I came back from the restaurant right next to Tavern, the number to call to get my car was disconnected! I will never eat here and I will make sure that I tell everyone I know to never come to this placethey hire a predatory towing company to take advantage of people even on slow nights where there is lots of parking. $400 later, I have my car and Tavern on the Tracks will never have my business.
While I understand the need to protect parking, the choice to use a tow company that isn’t even listed on google maps is not a responsible move for a business. It will cost anywhere from $350-420 to get your car from this tow company. It is absolutely absurd, to use predatory towing and booting from a disreputable towing service in an attempt to “protect” your business all at the cost of any current or future customers.
Really great business model, not surprised by all the other mediocre reviews.
I had never been here before, heard good things & wanted to try it. I go a little after 10 to have some drinks. Park in their parking lot. I’m not in there for more than 45 min come out and my car has been towed!!!!! The towing company.. super sketchy said he watch me come from hot taco and decided that he should tow my car.. long story short.. ended up having to pay $450 to get it back & i called up there to let them know what happened to see if something could be done and they said nothing could be done, it was out of their hands just not a good idea to go here!
I’ve never given a bad review for a business on Google but this place deserves one. This is a disreputable business with poor customer service due to sloppy attitude from staff. They also use their parking lot to prey on people for profit, including people who are their own PAYING customers. From all of the reviews on here that mention anything about towing, management have yet to say anything about itgo figure. Don’t be a victim of this scam! You’re better off going next door to gin mill. Better yet, just go anywhere else but here.
Excellent food and decent service. Have sports on TV and drinks. The meatloaf is my favorite and it is AWESOME! They have good sandwiches and entrees. Tavern atmosphere. Just off the light rail.
Predatory parking scheme. We parked in their leased parking lot. After being parked for not more than 20 minutes, our car was booted. This leads me to believe that someone was watching and waiting for someone to be preyed upon, only to have their car towed. So, If your business pays for the use of another companies parking lot, and "somehow" a towing company appears and boots and tows a car. We did not see any parking attendant at the time of parking, but after an hour finding out our car was towed, an hour later a gentleman wearing a "towing logo" t-shirt, confronts us and asked if our car was towed. We said yes and he also asked if we are going to get the car tonight, and said he would call the towing company and had someone stay there until we arrived to pick it up. Wow! How convenient. We asked the guy if he was with the towing company and he said no. Not surprising. If this was a business with any couth, they would make a deal with the parking lot owner to at least charge for parking. I would be more than happy to pay for parking. I would not be returning to this place simply for dishonest and shady practices.
All the food at Tavern is good, if a bit expensive. Portions are big enough though that you're usually getting 1.5 to 2 meals. My only problem is I love their buffalo tenders so much (they are the best in the world, not just Charlotte) that I always struggle with not getting other menu items.
I've never given a rating this low before, and I feel bad doing it. This place might be a great watering hole, but do not expect them to get your lunch order right. Even after 3 attempts. Frustration reached nuclear levels before I just left.
One of the better bars we bounced around too on Panthers game day. Several places were 3 or 4 deep and the bartenders could of cared less. Not at Tavern on the Tracks . we rarely had to wait for drinks and the bar tenders were pleasant despite being very busy. I would revisit next time we are in Charlotte.
The stuffed banana peppers were supreme! And the service was great. I went as a warm up to dinner uptown and was not disappointed. Very convenient to the Links but I drove. Parking is ample for a Tuesday afternoon. I imagine for a Bills game or UM it gets crazy. But for a drink or two after work this place is great.
Floors were sticky when we walked in. The menus were also sticky, gross. I ordered a grilled ham and cheese and it was burnt. Why would the cook place that grilled cheese on the plate burnt? If I wanted a burnt grilled cheese I would have made one at home. The fruit cup tasted like it was at one point frozen, then thawed out. Will not be back.
By far the best Sunday bloody mary/mimosa deal in town - and they're HUGE. Very quiet bar to relax and hang out with the friendly bartenders. You walk in even your first time and they make you feel at home (with an oversized bloody mary in hand)
It is a lot of fun to watch a Michigan game here, but you have to know that you are going into a very crowded situation. The restaurant works very hard to get to everyone, but there is only so much you can do with that many people. So if you miss the experience of the big house and want to have a lot of fun during a Michigan game, this is a great place to go.
Good for a Buffalo or Michigan game, but might choose somewhere else for a more upscale evening. Good beer list, not great. Quite a few local crafts on draught. Food smelled good, but I didn't eat. Clean enough and they were slow, so server was attentive. Good for what it is, a somewhat dive-y sports bar.
